Gees look at me go.. 2 blogs is 2 days. Not sure when i am going to get to the next PC and leaving Oz today so thought i'd update you. Yesterday after having a good old whinge about the rain and Kel and i taking the piss out of all the people in shorts we walked into town to shop- yep that would be pair of shoes number 2! Anyway moving on swiftly .. we took a leisurely walk through the botanical gardens and up to the Opera House where we sat outside for 2 hours watching the Australian Open Tennis on the big screen. Was quite warm but the sun wasn't out.... can you see where this is going..... After about 2 hours we headed to Circular Quay and the Rocks for a wander ... read more

We now have internet access again, so can catch up on blogwork, but I desperately wanted to write about our sighting of a comet. We were driving back to Geelong from a day out in Melbourne on the 22nd of January, the sun had just set, and I spotted what I thought was a plane still in the sun due to being high up. But as we drove along, it didn't seem to move, so it couldn't be a plane...It was about the same hight as a beautiful crescent moon which was also sinking, as it was slowly which we noticed after about an hour of driving, It was like a star with a long vapour trail which spread out a little, going vertically up into the sky. The only thing I thought it could be ... read more

The next day Paihia, I was suppose to meet up with the Holland friends, and they were going to rent a boat for the day to take out themselves....but I slept in and missed them. Bummer! Which turned out to be ok cause it sent me on a path to another adventure. After reading 'Celestine Prophecy', I have become aware and intrigued as to why I met certain people at the times I do, and what kind of information we may have to share with each other. I think this occurs every day in our lives- but normally we're set on such a schedule that we don't necessarily have time or interest to really talk to people in our passing and hear their stories- which may actually have a lesson or insight for us. But when ... read more

Tomorrow morning I leave Sydney and fly to Christchurch. I've had a truly excellent week here in NSW. I'm sad to be leaving which is good because it means I've really felt at home here. Apart from the world famous sights it's a nice place just to hang out and eat cheap, ethnically diverse, food and drink good coffee. Whatever you want to do - it's here. Like the other places I have visited, people have been helpful and courteous, almost without exception. Within 5 minutes of passing through immigration the woman behind the counter at "Travelex" advised me that it would be cheaper for me to obtain Aussie dollars from the nearby ATM than over her counter. 10 minutes later the girl at the station ticket window took time out to advise me that a ... read more

After a day in Auckland I headed up north to the Bay of Islands, Paihia to spend a few days- and what a FANTASTIC start to my travels. On the way up to Paihia (about a 5 hour bus ride with the detours) i made some friends with 2 guys from Argentina guys, which helped make the bus ride go faster and had some friends to hit the town with my first night in the town. The next day I went sailing and swimming with the dolphins! It was such a fantastic day! We got on the boat at 9:30, and there were only about 15-20 people on the boat which was nice that they didn't pack everyone in. And first thing, we went and saw some dolphins! They were so beautiful frolicking in the ocean- ... read more

The coach turned up an hour late and there was only me waiting for the bus in Bumdaberg, finally got on it then managed to sleep through the night woke up when we stopped for the breakfast break was only 1/2 hr behind, set off then got stuck in traffic due to a overturned lorry blocking the straight road. Finally got to Airlie beach at 11.25 only 2 hours late not bad had to walk to the hostel only 10 mins nooked in then went to see what deals I could get for sailing in the Whitsundays islands and the Great Barrier Reef. Found a tall ship offer for $279 for 2 days and one night departing on saturday. Booked this through the hostel as they give a free night accomodation and storage. Best deal I ... read more
