aamulla piti nousta jo puol kuuden aikaan, jotta ehdittiin keskustaan 7.15. Meidät haettiin sellasella tilataksilla hostellin edestä ja sit sinne tuli 6muutakin ihmistä. Se kuski oli todella mukava! Gary. Kertoili meille nähtävyyksistä, faktoja ja vähän historiaakin. Kivaa, ku joku tiesi asioista jotakin.. Me ajettiin tunnin verran ja pidettiin aamutee tauko. Kahvi kyllä piristi hyvin, ku tuli nukahdettua siinä alkumatkasta. Sit sellanen kalkkuna tuli sieltä metsästä hakemaan meidän keksejä. Gary sitä kuulemma aina syöttää. Mä sitten syöttelin sitä siinä. :) Ajettiin viel tunnin verran, jotta oltiin perillä. Me oltiin Minnan kaa s... read more

Doesn't the last day of work seem so sweet!? Hoorah for annual leave. This is my first proper job ever and I have become innitiated into the world of designated free time enjoying weekends and now a wonderful 4 weeks annual leave! I'm basically all ready to leave on the 11th and there's not much for me to do in the mean time except potter about, stewing in my own anticipation which I have stymeed in this past month since booking the ticket. Now I can drop the whhole blase attitude of dissinterest and indulge a childish attitude of "are we there yet?". My bag is super empty and am comtemplating going down a size but who knows at this stage? Should I tell you about wonderful Wollongong? People do come here for holidays too and ... read more

Well four pubs and fifty tractor dealers later gerraldtown is finally starting to grow on us, our arrival in the pissing rain, seeing the town dominated by the biggest grain silos I've ever seen, and no wind was a real downer, but after a day of drizzle sol returned to our lives. Gerraldtown sports many sights, probably the best being the HMAS Sydney memorial; This large dome sitting atop a ridge looking over the town to the setting sun is to commemorate the sailors who died when a German raider disguised as a merchant ship sunk Australia's most famous battle ship, the Sydney. Although smaller and much lighter armed the sneaky Hun managed to engage the Sydney causing severe damage before sinking itself, though most of the raiders were captured when there life rafts reached shore, ... read more

Today I bought my flight - and since the cost of going up to cairns went up today, I ended up buying a flight to the Sunshine Coast instead! Cause a bit of sunshine is just what I need at the moment!! Melbourne is getting COLD. Well...atleast Australia Cold. It might just be the fact that I've been waking up at early hours of the morning to start my 14 hour work days...I've been pushing myself to the limit in order to save up as much money as possible in these last two weeks. It'll be worth it once I get on the road, though!! Unger Catering has been treating me well - my favorite work partner - Kristof - came back after a 12 day trip to Tazmania. His initial plan was to just stop ... read more

Hoi allemaal!

One thing we learned on our trip is that Australians have a sense of humor. And John Boucher, co-owner of the Kyneton Ridge Estate Winery, in Kyneton, Victoria State was no exception. Pointing to the huge, white tent that took up a large portion of his side yard, and where his stepson was to hold his wedding reception in two days, he made a suggestion to my fiancée, Megan, and I: “You should stay a couple of more days,” John said. “And make it a double ceremony.” We passed on the quickie wedding, but allowed John to pour us a several samples of his products. For only having been making wine for five years, John, and his wife, Pauline Russell, have their skills down so much so that I only needed one sample (but tried six) ... read more
