Today I woke up at 8:30 after sleeping 9.5 hours. I am almost caught up on sleep. The day started off slow, I grabbed a shower and made breakfast. While I was eating breakfast I went on the computers. I checked my mail, went on Facebook and caught up my blog. While I was on the computer I got a txt from Mike saying he was on the train to go to the Trades and Labour hire agency office. Because of this I went downtown. I got groceries and deposited 500 dollars pay in the bank. I am now just short of 4000 dollars with 500 owed from last week. From there I went to Peter Pans where I used half hour of free internet I had there to add about 30 pictures to my Facebook ... read more

Today as the forcaster said it rained all day. Not light rain, 62mm of rain! in 24 hours. By 6:00AM when I went to AWX there was already flooding on the streets I had to walk. I arrived at AWX at 6:05 hoping to be the first one in. I knew there would not be much work available because of the weather. It turned out that I was second in. I sat down and ate my PB&J sandwiches I had made the night before for breakfast. From there I proceeded to read the local newspaper, taking that pages that mentioned the socceroos vs. Iraq game. After finishing the paper about 50 minutes had past waiting for work. The first guy had received a job and a few others had come into the office drenched! There was ... read more

Today was my only day off of the week so I tried to relax while getting a fair amount of stuff done. I slept I until around 9:30, sleeping about 10.5 hours. After that I grabbed a shower breakfast and checked my mail. After that I took the train to Fortitude Valley and went to a tattoo shop to price getting a tattoo. From there I went downtown and priced it at two other tattoo shops. That ended around 1:00 and from there I went to a backpacker travel place to price the rest of the trip and get a rough timeframe on the trip. Upon getting home I used the schedule to get mike working on planning the trip. There seems like there is still TONNES to do in planning the trip and not that ... read more

So I finally got to play my didgeridoo! I went to this Gallery in downtown Brisbane where you can make your own boomerang or emu caller.. which I may have mentioned before. I actually went to do it after a few days being in Bris.. but I started it and none of my colours were showing up.. so I was actually quite pissed off with the whole thing and considered snapping my boomerang in half.. haha. Specially since everyone else in that room appeared to be artists and were showcasing these master pieces! Jerks. haha. But anyway, I went back about 4 days later cuz the lady told me I could come back to finish it. And actually I half to say it turned out pretty good, I'll post a picture of it soon :) There ... read more

Today I was working with Adrian again. It is starting to get fairly routine now. I started earlier (8:00) which was nice starting earlier and getting off earlier. We went back to a past site to do everything that we needed him for. Another worker who he had got met us there. We set up all the posts and such and then Adrian left us for the rest of the day and then also tomorrow which is supposed to be a half day. The day was fairly easy to me. The work that I do is now becoming fairly routine also. I got off work around 3:30, but didn't tell Adrian we finished until 4 just to pinch the extra couple bucks. After work did the usual. Shower, computer, dinner, tv, read book then bed.... read more

Brisbane. 3rd largest city in Australia. It's a nice enough place to be I guess but there isn't much to keep the seasoned traveller entertained. We toured the city on our first afternoon following the Lonely Planet's 4hr walking tour and saw the best bits of this laid back and rather quiet city. Our relaxing walk through the mangroves was interrupted suddenly when we came across a 7ft python slowly making his way along the boardwalk. The boards were only 3ft wide and we were forced to tip-toe past him, although it was at a pace that prevented him snatching one of us for dinner. The highlight of our stay (and probably the only other thing worth doing) was a visit to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. Even this can get a little boring when you've ... read more

Today was another relaxing day off. I slept in until around 10 O'Clock then slowly got around to showering and having breakfast. There was nothing to do yesterday and there was even less to do today. I sat around never leaving the hostel awaiting a call from Adrian so that I could get my money and hopefully work for the next week. He ended up calling around 5 O'Clock bringing up on his own how he owed me money. After that I made dinner, watched the news on tv, went on the internet and did a fair amount of Research on Brock and then retired to the bed room where I started to reread my Bill Bryson book on Australia... read more

Today I woke up at 5:00. Work was supposed to start at 6:00 and I had a good 20-25 minute walk to get to work. I set off to work at about 5:35 and made it to work ontime. There was already a worker there but the guy I was supposed to contact was not there yet. The job was at a very small urban construction site close to Story Bridge. Once the contact arrived I was told that I was not needed. I guess AWX had sent two guys on Friday to the site and neither were ordered and I was the third person that had been screwed over from them. After this I walked back to the hostel and went back to sleep. I woke up the second time around 10:00 having had seven ... read more

Today was a much appreciated day off. No work and nothing planned. I woke up just after nine O'Clock and had breakfast. I went downstairs and got all my dirty clothes together. The majority were work clothes so I tried to get as much dirt and what ever else was on them off before cleaning them with my casual clothes. I ended up plugging the sink and just squeezing out the dirt. For about half a load of dirty work clothes it took 6 different tubs of water. After that I threw all the clothes in and started the wash. During that time I grabbed a shower, shaved and brushed my teeth. After that I hung up all my clothes and headed into town with Mike. We did some window shopping and checked out what was ... read more
