Hey Everyone Alright I have bad news, these damn public computers are to slow to upload pictures which is why Becca's page does not have any pictures either right now. But it's just one more week until I am in Perth and there will be pictures galore. In the meantime you'll just have to settle for my excellent verbal descriptive skills. Really that consists of the words hot, amazing, awesome and impossible to describe. But I'll do my best. So we just got back from our sailing trip around the Whitsunday islands. The weather was gorgeous, the water was gorgeous, the snorkelling was gorgeous, in a nutshell it was gorgeous. We travelled on a cadamaran (or something spelt like that) with around 50 other people and stayed on an island resort at night. I almost didn't ... read more

After another overnight bus, I pulled in to Arlie Beach at 09:30. It was hot and very humid. Magnums, the hostel that I was staying in, was a huge money making machine! The rooms were comfortable, if not a little off putting when you see mousetraps in every corner. The rooms were air-con’d which was a great break from the tropical climate. That afternoon I prepared for my sailing adventure around the Whitsundays. There were a couple of heavy showers, but nothing that worried me too much, as long as there was some sunshine most of the day I didn’t mind. My boat was called Samurai and was a 40ft Maxi racing sailing yacht. Five minutes before I started my walk to the mariner it started to rain, heavy! The rain did not stop until the ... read more

Wow... I don't even know where to start. I've seen and done so much since my last up-date! I left Noosa and headed to Hervey Bay which was a pretty boring place because it's basically a retirement community. Fortunately I left early the next morning for Fraser Island. This was an amazing trip! Fraser Island is the biggest SAND island in the world. It's completely sand! There are only 3 rock formations on the whole island, so the only way to get around is by 4WD. I decided to do the guided tour and I'm really gald that I did because we saw so much! It was extremely hot on the island, but we'd stop a couple times a day to go for a swim and cool down a bit. The third day we walked down ... read more

In the last blog, we were in our third rainy day in Sydney. We were a bit bummed because the sunshine was sporadic. Well, we hadn't seen anything yet. The last morning in town, Justin got up at 8:30 to go watch the Bears play their first playoff game on Fox Sports International (by the way, Joe Buck is annoying even in the Southern Hemisphere). It seems god also couldn't understand why Lovie Smith switched to the passing game and kept putting Charles Tillman against Steve Smith, and has been crying in frustration ever since. After pounding into a few waves at Bondi Beach, Justin felt well enough to go out to one of King's Cross nightspots. After a short night's sleep, we picked up the Toyota Corolla from Hertz, and headed up the coast. We ... read more

Up early yet again to catch the 7am bus to Airlie Beach. We checked into Magnums and paid an few extra dollars for a private room, every now and then you need to do this just to get a decent nights sleep. Magnums is a lively hostel surrounded by trees and a small stream that runs by it, so the mosquito's were out in force again.. We were pretty tired and got an early night to make the most of having our own space again. The next morning we headed to Abel Point Marina to catch our Catamaran for our trip to the Whitsundays. The Catamaran was nice, but not as nice as the one we had previously sailed on in Cairns, it was called the Camira, previously named Tsunami, but was renamed out of respect ... read more

Dear All, Apologies for the length of time between the last blog and this, but the Festive season did gobble us up a little. However, we will endeavour to fill you in on all that we have been up to more recently. When we last left off, we were departing from Byron Bay and heading north, towards Brisbane. From Byron it is only a few hours drive to the Gold Coast. This is where Australians who like the big lights etc, come on holiday. It was all very interesting but as we had been enjoying some really beautiful coastline up until now, were more than a little disappointed at the miles of high rises that comprise Surfers' Paradise. It is a bit of a concrete jungle by the sea but I suppose it is a case ... read more

Good afternnon everyone...and a happy +30C, sunny although its a little humid...Sorry, I have heard how great the weather is there...LOL... To bring you todate... Monday morning we left Cairns and bused our way to Airlie Beach, about 11 hours south. It wasn't bad, slept most of the way, nice senery of the country, it was interesting to see signs stating "flood area ahead, measurements ahead" and then drive past signs 2 meters high. We arrived in Airlie at 7pm checked in slept some more. 8:30 the next morning, we boarded the "Derwent Hunter", an ECO Tall ship in which we travelled the ocean for 3 days and 2 nights. It was amazing. The weather we awesome, nice and warm. The first day we had great sailing conditions, we stopped at Chance bay, swam in the ... read more

Well hello everyone, thought we'd let you have an update on what we've been up to over here in Oz. As you can probably tell we're in Airlie Beach at the moment and its so so hot. We're only here for a couple of days and are booked on a boat trip to the Whitsunday Islands tomorrow which should be good. Anyway here goes on what we've been doing. We were in Sydney for the first couple of days getting our stuff sorted so we were legal, had money and could work to get more money. After Sydney we headed for Byron Bay, getting the bus overnight at a killer 15hrs! We arrived into Byron but weren't as taken with it as we had been told we would be. Don't get me wrong the place itself ... read more

A 12 hr bus ride can be pretty boring... so i was glad i had Martin as a travel buddy. Although we stopped over in several places... mostly towns that had maybe an old granny walking the streets or an odd Fish and Chips shop... kinda funny! One stop we made was in the middle of the Night at a Gas station in the MIDDLE OF NOWHERE... there was nothing around but that gas station... oh well it works for some stretching and coffee and a cigarette! hahah We arrived in Airlie Beach at around midnight... as we didn't know which hostel we were going to stay in we took the next best... BUSH Village ... sounded good n looked good on the little poster the chick had. And it was CHEAP ...TAKEN!!! the next day ... read more

Airlie beach has been a relaxing experience, we celebrated Dannys (from Sanfrancisco) 21st birthday in style with a great night! I met danny at Magnetic island and we had the free car for the day, not to mention lugging around a few tables together in 37 degrees for 2 hours (for free beer that night!). Hes now gone sailing but we hope to meet up again on the surf route at byron bay. From byron bay Giles and i set of too kroombit for a farm stay evening and day. This is known as the numb bum run, 9 hours of travel. To break up the travel along the way we partook in a seriously competitive game of crown green bowls for an hour or so over a few chillingly ice cold beers! On arrrival we ... read more
