Well hello everyone, thought we'd let you have an update on what we've been up to over here in Oz. As you can probably tell we're in Airlie Beach at the moment and its so so hot. We're only here for a couple of days and are booked on a boat trip to the Whitsunday Islands tomorrow which should be good. Anyway here goes on what we've been doing.
We were in Sydney for the first couple of days getting our stuff sorted so we were legal, had money and could work to get more money.
After Sydney we headed for Byron Bay, getting the bus overnight at a killer 15hrs! We arrived into Byron but weren't as taken with it as we had been told we would be. Don't get me wrong the place itself is nice, quite small, but when we were there we had the most awful weather, you'l be able to see the picture of the thunderstorm we sat through. We found though that Byron is mainly based around the beach and the sun, so when its raining and miserable there really isn't much to do. So we made the decision to cut our stay there
short and headed in search of the sunshine, we headed for Surfers Paradise.
Surfers was amazing. Quite built up and nothing like Byron. It's funny as we went there expecting for it to be over crowded and in your face and to be honest we expected not to enjoy it. The total opposite though. It was overcrowed, it was loud and totally in your face but we loved it!! The beaches were fantastic, amazing white sand. The place itself was really buzzing and we had such a laugh. Everyone was so easy going and nice. We went on this stupid Adventure Duck thing which was pretty daft but we had to, it was a bus that was a duck and it went on water too!!! Can it get any better. We also got to go past all the million dollar houses and the Versace Hotel, the 6* hotel they stay in for I'm a celeb, we're so sad, but it was well posh. David wouldn't let me stay there, he said we couldn't afford it? Us?
Anyway we stayed in surfers for 4 nights I think and enjoyed every one of them. There was a Hard Rock Cafe as
well so topped up our shot glass collection! (Yes Dad, of course David had a pig sandwich!)
Right From Surfers we went to Brisbane. Only stayed there for a couple of nights but managed to see a lot more of Brisbane than we say last time. We hadn't planned to go but had a few nights spare so decided to use it as a stop off. I'm pleased we did as they had a Kylie exhibition on there, with all her dresses and photos and awards and stuff. I was upset that we couldn't take any photos but it was free so we can't really complain.
After Brisbane we headed up to Hervey Bay. Again we cut short our stay there as when we did get there we kind of realised that other than fraser island there really isn't alot to do. We went to Fraser Island for a day trip and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was kind of a whistle stop tour, Oh for those who don't know Fraser Island is the largest sand island in the world. The whole thing is made out of sand. The roads (or tracks) throughout the island are all sand and
The sand beneath our feel
This picture comes to you from Byron Bay the main highway is on the beach. This beach is 75miles long and is the most fabulous sight. It just goes on and on as if forever! We also saw a shipwreck in the sand that had been there for 70years but every year was slipping further and further into the island. The highlight of the day though was in the avo when we went to one of the lakes on the island. This lake is formed totally of rain water so its totally pure. The sand around the lake is all actually clear crystals that look like sand because of the colour the sun gives them. It was so amazing just lying there is what was like a bath of bottled water (if you know what i mean). The water and crystals together are also cleansing and make your body and hair feel so smooth. Wow. You all have to try it!
And finally, if I haven't lost any of you, we got the bus last night to Airlie Beach which as I said is where we speak from now. We're both excited about going on boat trip tomorrow.
We'll have to leave it there guys, hope
your not all really bored. Will update again in a few weeks. Enjoy the photos.
