Here are some photos with text to give a feel of our Whitsunday Islands time. Once again the weather could have been a bit kinder but the rain today has given us a breather to plan our fast approaching time in Sydney and to catch up with laundry. Oh yes, and I got a long over due hair cut - please note that the photo of me below includes a hat which wasn't just for protection from the sun. Watch out for the next one with my smart Aussie styling! Tomorrow we will travel further south towards our treat of 4 days on Heron Island and then Sydney afterwards.... read more

It is a year ago that we embarked on another cruise journey, this time on Voyager of the Seas to Airlie Beach, Brisbane and Willis Island (Queensland Australia). This cruise was very different for us, for 3 reasons: we booked it at the ‘last minute’ in the end of January, usually I plan for months before going on a cruise, but the timing was right and the price was right so we booked it. it was our first cruise as Royal Caribbean Diamond members - among other perks, we would now receive free alcohol form 5pm - 830pm everyday!! Yahoo!! I had created a facebook chat group for this cruise, I had been in a few of these groups before and helped out with admin duties but I had never created and run one myself, let ... read more

It's a hot and humid g'day from Airlie Beach, where we are having a few days of relaxation after spending a week or so driving up the east coast of Australia from the city of Brisbane, about 1100km south of here. The decorations are up, festive music abounds, and the regulation advent calendar has been purchased, however applying the after sun to various bits of sun burn and sweating it out in temperatures of 30 celsius does seem slightly novel at this time of year. After flying over from a much more temperate New Zealand, we arrived in Brisbane to the haziness of Queensland's first heat wave of the summer, with temperatures reading a searing 38 degrees. Built around the meandering Brisbane River, we enjoyed the city's weekend hustle and bustle, with plenty of cafes, parks ... read more

R : Our flight from Brisbane landed on a beautiful sunny Monday afternoon at Proserpine, which is the industrial city near the Whitsunday coast. Around the airport were Wallabies, everywhere, hopping about enjoying the sunshine. We headed into town on a shuttle that took a huge amount of time, so by the time we got to our accomodation it was nearly dark. We chatted at length with reception about the tour possibilities, knowing that the weather forecast for the week was looking a bit bleak! Being a public holiday, a large proportion of the shops and restaurants were shut, so we headed to a pub for a semi-decent and vastly overpriced meal. Australia is hugely expensive to us now, given the gradual slump in the AUD v GBP rate - both Cate and I remember a ... read more

AIRLIE BEACH AND DARWIN AIRLIE BEACH - 13th March The main attraction of Airlie Beach are the nearby Whitsunday Islands and it the gateway for people on the Cruise ships to visit the Great Barrier Reef. Airlie Beach is on the Coral Sea, as are the Whitsunday Islands and it has a tropical climate. Since we were here in 2014, there has been considerable investment in the Cruise terminal area. This is a tender port for Cruise ships so getting people ashore has to be slick and there are lots of ferries to go to the neighbouring islands. We landed at the newer terminal and a short shuttle ride dropped us off in the main town centre. The area is dependent on tourism and all these new improved facilities will attract more visitors. More yachts and ... read more

Arriving back in Cairns we discovered that it had rained hard all week while we were away, evident by the many puddles still visible around the camp site. Our caravan had been moved from storage to a good sized site and all set up for us.We stayed for 2 more nights in Cairns before heading down the coast.Stopping overnight at a free camp in the small but quaint town of Home Hill to break our journey passing Townsville this time as we headed for Airlie Beach We were booked in at the big 4 resort just out of town and on the way into the way into Airlie Beach. Here we where to meet up with friends once again, Ronnie and Cheryl who had arrive there days earlier.Although having stayed at this camp ground several times before we still ... read more

Day 11 Left hotel about 8, no brekkie included so decided to get some on route to Airlie beach! Stopped in a town Called Ayr! Had a very nice omelette and hubs had a big brekkie piggy! Then 2 locals came in, I think they may have been the local crazies! On account of the lady having 8 hair clips in her hair, you know the real glitzy/big flower kind and that was just the side of her head I could see! (heard the girl behind the counter say hello you're in very early today!) they sat across from us and kept looking at us! Clearly we were sat in their seats!! We finished our brekkie and left - before we were out the door they were sat in our seats lol! Gotta love the Aussie ... read more

Dzięki temu, w latach 80. był użyty do zbudowani... read more
