Well hello everybody... Again it has been a while since my last blog, mainly due to the fact I have been working!!! and the internet in Australia never works and is expensive! Since my last blog I have done so so much, so here goes... So me and Coley spent the day watching hockey in Brisbane, was good fun and a very good standard. Was nice to have a few beers in the sun, as had not really done much of that since Asia...In the evening we went round one of the hockey girls houses, who he has started to get together with. Normally on a saturday night I wouldn't stay in, but for the case of a girls hockey team and me and Coley I took exception, haha. It was a good night, we watched ... read more

Day 12: Wednesday 3rd August, Maxi Ragamuffin The day I'd been waiting for, Sailing in the Whitsunday Islands. We got up at 7:00 to get ready to catch the bus to Shute harbour. We went up to the front of the caravan park and waited for the bus. At a bus stop across the road there were school kids waiting for the school bus. Felt sorry cause they had to go to school and I was going sailing. Two other people from our park came up to wait as well. Then a coach pulled up to pick us up and we hopped on board. We made a few stops to pick up some more tourists that were to sail with us. Then we got down to Shute Harbour where the vessel was waiting for us. The ... read more

Hi again, we are currently at Airlie Beach. We are staying at the Big 4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort. It's an awesome place. We have barely seen Zac since we arrived as it has a resort pool, waterslides, jumping pillow, tennis court, basketball court, volleyball, go karts, playground & then they have an outdoor cinema where they show movies in the evening. We are staying here for 2 nights then on to Rockhampton for a night then 1770 for a few days where we will again meet up with my Aunty Di & Uncle George. After 1770 we are off to Fraser Island for 3 days. I have downloaded more pics. I will be on again soon. Cheers. :o)... read more

When one hears the words "Whitsunday" most think of a group of islands off Queensland. In fact, the area has been named after the Whitsunday Strait which passes between the islands and the mainland. The islands belong to the Cumberland group. No matter, besides this piece of trivia, we found this a wonderful area to visit and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Sunday 24th July 2011 We had done most of the preparation for our departure yesterday and after completing the last few things we could only do before leaving we joined John and Marilyn for breakfast. This had been arranged last night over some drinks we had on our return from dinner. John presented us with scrambled eggs and bacon, cooked tomato, toast, with a side of black pudding for the men. Delicious! Brendan, the ... read more

9 Days in paradise! Airlie Beach has grown alot since we were last here about 5 years ago. Very impressed with all the new shops and the council has done a great job with the landscaping. We walked along the Bicentenial walk with the dog a few times, used the free bbq's and spent a day shopping. Then we headed out to camp on South Molle Island. We loaded our gear and kayak onto a great water taxi barge which dropped us out there and returned 4 days later to pick us up. (In the dark mind you... Told us to be ready at 3.30pm but didn't get there till 6.32pm!) Had the campground to ourselves for the first 2 nights and were then joined by another couple and kayak campers for the last. The walking ... read more

We stayed in a rain forest camp on Fraser Island. It was great fun but we mostly travelled around the island to places like Champagne Rocks where we could swim with little fish. After Fraser Island the weather turned to rain. We had a short trip on the car Ferry on Saturday morning & we saw a dingo while we were waiting. It walked around our car looking for food. From there we went to Burrum River & it rained most of the time. Luckily there was a room where we could play & eat plus we went to Hervey Bay & played on some really interesting equipment. It stopped raining on Monday & we went to stay at 1770. It is called that because Captain Cook first landed there in 1770 – more than 240 ... read more

On Saturday the 21st of May we arrived at Ball Bay, just north of Mackay. The beach looked black but it was actually the shadow coming off little balls of sand made by little crabs. We stayed at a council campsite for twenty bucks. Ash and I swung on the vines coming off the massive trees. The next day we went to see dad’s old school friend Greg at his place in Airlie beach. Ash and I went to the skate park which wasn’t that good because there were skateboarders who stank like @#$%. !!! We stayed at a caravan park in Airlie beach. It had a pool and a half court tennis area. On Monday we went up Mount Rooper. Mum and I ran, Dad, Ash and Greg walked. When I got back I got ... read more

Ellie and I have just arrived back from an epic two days (two nights) sailing trip around the 74 beautiful islands of Whitsunday. When we were told we were going on a 'sailing trip', I don't think we were quite expecting to be so involved in keeping the boat going! Along with a captain, two crew and twenty paying customers, we all had to help out at some point at pulling certain ropes, hoisting the mast up and making sure that we held on for dear life as the boat went from a seemingly flat 'safe' position to a scary (almost) vertical position. During our two days sailing around Whitsunday, we had an awful lot of rain (yes, it does rain occasionally here) and wind so the weather (and giant waves) made for an eventful trip! ... read more

G'day! Strewth! Crikey! Can ya guess where I am yet?? That's right, the home of the bearded music playing vet man who coined a similar phrase to that one, Australia!! Obviously, despite the fact that I've entered the Southern hemisphere for the first time has made no difference to the speed which time seems to be moving at, and I've appparently already been down under for a week and a day! Which doesn't seem at all right. I got into Cairns early last week after a sleep deprived flight through the middle of the night from Singapore and spent my first three nights there. On my final day there I splashed out for the first time during my visit and went diving on the Great Barrier Reef. Being certified and right next door to it, there ... read more
