Can you adam and eve it? that i am now in Oz, how that happened so fast i will never know, one moment i was wondering around the lovely city of KL finding very tall buildings, even bigger shopping malls and and amazing amount of trouble to get into involving boys and cakes, though seperatly, and then a message come form out of the blue from Ms Caroline Newton ( who i used to live with in west London ) saying she was having an engagement party on the 17th of Nov in melbourne....so as i really don't think i will be able to make it back to the UK for July next year, i jumped on a mad bus to break for the Malaysia and Singapore boarder, got though and was informed over loud speaker ... read more

Sunday 21st October It was a long, very scenic drive up to Margaret River through the Southern Forests. We stopped for lunch at a little logging town called Pemberton, which felt a bit like a Wild West town in California. If you lived in Perth it would be a great place to come and do all the walking trails through the forest but unfortunately we didn’t have time for that. The journey from Pemberton to Margaret River didn’t quite go as planned - we didn’t have a detailed road map and inadvertently ended up going completely the wrong way out of what we thought was a one-street town. It wasn’t disastrous, we were able to cut back across to the right road, but it added quite a bit of time to an already very long journey. ... read more

As soon as you step of the aircraft after landing in Darwin, it just hits you. The temperature is around 36 c here and with the humidity there’s a much more tropical feel than the cooler spring we left behind in Perth. Darwin is located in the Northern Territories (NT) and lies right on the North coast, enclosed by the Arafura Sea above and by thousands upon thousands of square miles of outback nothingness below; although NT covers 20% of this massive continent, it is home to only 1% (about 200,000) of the total population of Australia. You get a feel for the size of this country when you realise it took us 3 hours to fly from (not even) the extreme south to the north coast, and, when you arrive, there’s an hour and ... read more

Well Darwin deserves a bit of a mention since it ressurected our faith in Australia..... cause there were times along the way coming through the outback that we wondered about this cool Australia that everyone had been talking about. Every place has been memorable for some reason & not surprizingly food has had a big part to play in most of our stories. As you know the trip from Broome to Darwin is a bit of a voyage so accounting for this.....we did a massive shop......once again I got a "little" extra for the "just in case", "desparate" times. So on top of the volumes of canned food, we stocked up on the good stuff.......no not ice-cream (no freezer)....but fresh fruit & veg. Well imagine the devastation we felt when some fellow camper informed us that ... read more

Current mood: Time to hit the road... Excited!! It’s been a while so where should I begin…. OOOoooh I know!! I’m finally Off that Island and the end to Darwin is approaching!!! Ok so the last time I left you I think it was something to do with a Cricket match that was supposed to be an on going thing for Maxwell Camp and the Tiwi lads!! In True Maxwell or could it be Tiwi Tradition the games never came about so it turned out to be a one off. The local boys on Melville island pulled out as they couldn’t get a team together. A pity but expected. My last shift on the island was however one of my best where we basically spent our time fishing and Camping.. Prior to this though there was ... read more

Next day 9 October 07 was another free day before the tour started. Most people decided to stay by the hotel pool but Sarah and myself decided to see if we could go out and explore some more of Darwin. We were both interested in getting onto one of the crocodile jumping tours but were unable to get on any tours so we decided to challenge ourselves to the local transport and go to Crocodylus Park. The park was pretty good. Worth a visit if you have a spare day and time. You get really really close to some crocs. The breeding pens - the crocs were huge. You learn so much on the walk around guided tours. I was standing next to the guy feeding the crocs so they got pretty close leaping out of ... read more

So this is my first trip on my own so I decided to stay in Oz rather then take off overseas my first time. Much easier to save for too and I love Australia and always wanted to explore it so here was my chance and I took it. I decided to sign up for Contiki Aussie Explorer so I would not be on my own, be able to see a lot more, meet lots of people and connections from around the world and have everything organised for me. I wanted a fast paced tour rather then a slow one. I like to jam pack my days and do and see all I can in a day. So eventually I packed and jumped on my Qantas flight to Darwin. The flight was around 4.5 hours,m which ... read more

G'day Yes people, i am speaking to you live and direct from holiday part II - Australia. I will of course try to backtrack on the blog, but i thought as i've you know, sidled over to a whole new continent, i should write a brief note. And brief it shall be as one of the many difference between asia and australia is how BLOODY expensive this country seems now! I mean we've gone from spending 50p, maybe a pound every night on accomodation, to like 9 / 10 quid! Like real money!! Man alive... fags and booze are real prices too, which is a bit of a mare as everyone here wants a party and we just may not be able to afford it... hell, we're a little concerned about having the money to get ... read more
