Currently at Cavenagh's hostel. It's better than the YHA in many ways (better pool, better people) but the staff aren't as friendly. We're in a 12 bed dorm, but it isn't as bad as I'd thought. Ear plugs are a great invention! Emily and Heather have been job hunting most days, and they have had an interview which they got (yay) so it's just waiting to start the job now for them. (2 weeks away I think). I've been spending a lot of time with Katie which is cool cos she's very chilled out and just lets me carry on being hectic haha. Rachel is here now too, so the numbers are gradually increasing! It's great to have so many nice people around. I've been pretty good with my money the last week (mainly because I ... read more

I'm alive. At a computer where i can't put pictures on and paying a crazy amount for it ($4/hr) So yeah. I'm back from the Outback and I'm in Darwin for the day and then tomorrow we have a early flight to Cairnes where I'll be located for the rest of my time in Ozland. So we last left you in Broome shortly after arriving there......Well Broome it's self didn't seem to have too much to offer, lots of shops selling pearls, and a huge beach (Cable beach)which you couldn't swim in cause of the 'stingers'! We did spend an evening on the beach to watch the sunset, as did everyone else staying in Broome, the beach was fairly packed with everyone sitting around in their deckchairs drinking wine. (nice enough work if you can get it!) So in an "if you can't beat 'em join 'em moment" we settled down alongside! Cable beach apparently has been voted as being in the top 10 beaches in the world. Well we wouldn't have voted for it, it was nice but not THAT nice. The local business are making the most of the ... read more

Well we are now finally in Oz, the journey here sounded pretty simple. We were due to leave yogya at 8am for our flight to jakarta, so we caught a bus to the airport around 6 only to find out once we'd checked in that our flight was now not leaving till 10.20am. things were not looking good for arriving into singapore around midday as we'd hoped! We did leave around half ten and the flight to jakarta took about 1 and a half hrs. however our (9.30am) flight to batam now had four guys underneath it weilding a big spanner!! We were told it wouldn't be leaving until 1pm. At 12.50 there was a big crowd around the check in desk and we managed to work out that we now wouldn,t be leaving till 3pm. ... read more

Arrive from Perth to Darwin now on my own after Ciara had left for home, its about 30 degrees here but the humidity makes it very tough to walk round. Darwin has had a rough history, it's got flattened by the Japanese during World War 2, twice as many bombs were dropped here than that on Pearl harbor. It also got flattened by a hurricane in the 70's. Darwin’s alot smaller than Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane, no high rise building but it's nice to walk round. Stay in The Cavanegh hostel and meet up with a friend Oonagh for a few drinks on the night I arrive, just walk round the next day, not too much though and prepare for my trip to Kakadu. ... read more

LITCHFIELD TOUR We woke up 5 minutes before we were due on the bus after a massive night out, still drunk as skunks! We boarded the tour bus happy as Larry to be greeted by silence and miserable faces. We squeezed to the back and used the time to catch up on the events of the previous night. I don’t think anyone was too impressed as our voices got louder and louder, as cackles increased to hysterics. Luckily Phyllis, our friend from the Kakadu tour accompanied us and at the first stop, whilst the rest of the group went on the crocodile cruise; our guide took us to a lookout, where we could see 360’ views of the surrounding area. It was a beautiful spot and gave us time to recover. We learnt about controlled bushfires ... read more

Carins is my favorite place in all of Australia. It is gorgeous...we will write when we get work and in the meantime send $$$$$ - we will need lots of it! One thing I know for sure - Australia is a very expensive place! An entree is easily $35 with nothing else (no bread, no salad....just the main thing. A hamburger at a "roadhouse" nothing fancy is $8 to $10...chips (or fries as we call them) are $3 - $4! The place we are staying in Peppers Beach Club and Spa is spectacular. We have a one bedroom suite! Ziplining: What fun it was. The terrain in the rainforest is gorgeous! And the experience was fun - Tyler and I are ready for really long rides. Each helmet had a name - clever method for being ... read more

We are back safe and sound from our 3 day camping trip into the heart of the northern territory and have much to share! Just so you get the picture - this is tropical land - 96 degrees with 100% humidity. You take a shower or a plunge into the waters and 60 seconds later you feel like you haven't had a shower in 3 days. By the way....Tyler didn't shower for the 3 days but he had plenty of time swimming in plunging pools! Plunging pools: we visited 2 per day. We hiked into each - the longest trek was 3 k (or about 2.5 miles). And then remember...you have to hike back. Once you reached the destination there are absolutely beautiful falls and pools! We will attached a couple of pictures - water was ... read more
