Plunging pools
One of six we hiked to!!! We are back safe and sound from our 3 day camping trip into the heart of the northern territory and have much to share! Just so you get the picture - this is tropical land - 96 degrees with 100% humidity. You take a shower or a plunge into the waters and 60 seconds later you feel like you haven't had a shower in 3 days. By the way....Tyler didn't shower for the 3 days but he had plenty of time swimming in plunging pools!
Plunging pools: we visited 2 per day. We hiked into each - the longest trek was 3 k (or about 2.5 miles). And then remember...you have to hike back. Once you reached the destination there are absolutely beautiful falls and pools! We will attached a couple of pictures - water was so refreshing - just the right temperature. That was the good parts. Once again I am reminded that camping is not a passion of mine!!!! It was really hot - at the last minute I upgraded to a larger tent with two beds and a fan! The fan was a real asset. The food just ok and we spent quite a bit of time
A kangaroo in the wild
The only one we saw! Very cute...and all alone! driving from to each place - air conditioner in the "4 wheel truck/van" was just ok! We were with 16 other people from all over the world - Tyler the one child but everyone enjoyed him. He had a big crush on two of the aussie chicks (pictures to show) and they thought he was quite cute. He wanted me to share that on the longest hike he wore his flip flops - got blisters and walked back on rocks (big, small, pebbles) on his bare feet...and only complained a little bit. What a guy...
Thieves: First I must start back a couple of days ago when we were leaving Ayers Rock. Had checked out and Tyler was taking a last swim and I was finishing up the laundry. We had at the pool our 2 small backpacks, my purse (with tickets, passports, wallet, etc.), and the cameras. He was sitting on the edge of the pool and I told him I was going to the laundry to pick up the last load. I come back 10 minutes later and there is no Tyler and ALL our stuff was sitting there unsupervised!!!! This by the way, is the only
The aussie chicks!
Tyler's crush - they thought Tyler was pretty cute! time we've had to have the "Grandma Jan and Tyler" talk. When I finally found him changing his clothes 2 building away - I chatted with him about "let me explain what would have happened had someone picked up my purse." No money, no credit cards, no cell phone, no plane tickets, no passports...you get the picture! So now fast foward to our camping trip. First day, morning - we get back to our vehicle after our 2nd plunging pool and the van has been broken into. Out of 18 people 14 of them lost EVERYTHING. Wallets, money, tickets, passports, clothes...everything. At both of the pools I took with me our lightweight backpack and the camera. Inside the backpack I had my wallet. Our other two bigger backpacks and my purse (with the passports, etc.) where locked in the back of the van that the thieves couldn't get to. Mind you we were only at this pool for 45 minutes! We felt really fortunate! Sooo - we spent the next 4 hours at the local (and I mean local...really small) police department. They had to call a couple of the officers on their day off to take the report, fingerprint
One of our fellow travelers
Spent 3 days with this...handsome guy! the van...you know the drill Jose! To make matters worse - it was Good Friday and everything in Australia shuts down for the Friday to Monday! 4 people decided to not go on - the rest realized that there wasn't much they could do and at least on the trip they had food and accomodations. So - Tyler had a first had experience with how serious losing everything can be.
The crocodile cruise was really neat. One of our guides was a really cute 12 girl by the name of Natalie. She looked like Bindi Irwin and knows her crocks and snakes! Tyler had a small python wrapped around his neck and was really close to the snapping crocks.
We got home tonight (Easter for us) but even forgot what day it was...about 6:00pm. Both took really good showers. I washed clothers, Tyler did homework and we did room service. Our pick up in the morning is at 3:15am!!! We leave in the morning for Cairns for Ziplining tomorrow, snorkeling and diving the next day, and hot air balloon the following day! This is our last week!!!!
We continue to miss you guys and can't wait to
One of the crocks!

Tyler I miss you, can you be back soon? Happy Easter, you have so much candy on your bed. Me too. I got some new glubs from the Easter Bunny because the Dora glubs are too small. We found so much candy and I got some money too. We finded all the jelly beans and the eggs. Thank you Tyler, bye, bye.
