03 05 2010 Today was an in transit day. We essentially kicked our heels around Sydney whilst waiting for time to elapse to go to the airport and fly to Thailand. The Crowne Plaza nice hotel and very comfortable. A warm day in Sydney and took a few pictures of the Government building and the Queen Victoria building. The chauffeur turned up and took us to the airport and into the luxury of Emirates business class. We had a great view of the jet as they got it ready for our flight. All went well and it was a 9 hour flight which went without incident. Great food and top service. A new day tomorrow. Got here and got a public taxi to the hotel. Taxi driver seemed happy the roads were quiet at this time ... read more

07 04 2010 Our last morning in Adelaide before we move on to Sydney which was very sad as we have enjoyed ourselves immensely and Brian and Fiona have been wonderful hosts and looked after us brilliantly. The weather was shinning down on us for the final tweaks to the packing. Thankfully Phil did not need to wear shirt, jumper, leather jacket and jeans to make the case lighter as I managed to get both cases just right for the weigh in. After breakie we piled into Brains car to get set for the airport. Adelaide airport fairly big and check in no problem. Fiona and Brian happily stayed with us at the boarding gate to wave us off and Brian took some final photos before we set off. Hugs and kisses to say goodbye - ... read more

I could have slept for ages this morning, if the light hadn’t off woken me up. F and I had a constant battle about leaving the curtains open or shut. I get woken by the smallest amount of natural light, even if I wear an eye mask the sun finds away slipping in and waking me up, therefore like the curtains closed. F on the other hand likes to wake up and see what is going on outside. Well that is great, but seeing as I always get up first and am ready long before the kids wake up, that curtain should stay closed! But what sort of lesson would I have been teaching him if I said no, so we made a compromise; alternating every day between open and closed. As it turned out they ... read more

Wirklich beeindruckende Skyline. Am Sonntag gabs das Chinese New Year Festival. Mit großer Parade und abschließendem Feuerwerk, auf das wir fast 2h gewartet haben. Australier halt, no worries gelle :D Aber dennoch wirklich sehr schön. ... read more

Our last day in Australia was bitter sweet, since we would be saying goodbye to my parents but we also would get to experience a new country, New Zealand. We slept in as check out was at 10am, standard in Australia. Once we woke up we packed our things, checked our bags at the front desk and checked out of the room. Mom and Dad returned the keys to the rental car agency while Pete and I searched for his wanted boomerang and didgeridoo that we would send back with Mom and Dad instead of carrying them around New Zealand for 19 days. Pete didn’t find a good didgeridoo but he did find a really neat boomerang that came with a display piece, so he purchased that. We met Mom and Dad at Pancakes on The ... read more

1 full day in Bangkok and two nights staying at the New Siam riverside -about 50yards from New Siam 2.It was actually on the riverside, at least the restaurant bar and swimming pool was. Our room on 6th floor overlooked the city. Bangkok was even busier than I remembered and the taxi driver told us there are 12million people in the City. We ate Pad Thai in the wild Orchid, shopped in the Koh Saon Road, walked from our hostel to visit the Royal barges, went down the river to a beautiful shopping mall selling the most gorgeous Thai silk clothes and cloth of every colour-Once again I wished I had more luggage space!! We ahd a quiet time in Bangkok and did not manage to visit the Blues Bar- We will leave that for the ... read more

Day 7 - January 23, 2010 So the hotel was full and I couldn’t get another night which meant I had a little over an hour before check out to find somewhere to go and pack. It’s amazing how much stuff I have and how it exploded all over the room…so not like me! The packing took longer than finding a place to stay for the night! I booked a place at another YHA in the Rocks area right on the Harbour. So with the hurry, needless to say, there was no showering and no make-up. This is a newly opened hostel built on top of an archaeological dig! The hostel is open so when you walk out your door you’re basically outside and in the center, when you look down, you can see the dig ... read more

We awoke early in Hong Kong and headed to the airport to catch our flight to Sydney. We opted to take the Hong Kong bus since it was a third of the price of the hotel shuttle. We walked the ten minutes to Nathan Road in Kowloon where we got the express bus to the airport. Check in was fast and we waited in the terminal to board the plane. Elyse watched five movies while I only watched three on the nine hour flight. I spent a few hours perfecting my Tetris skills on the in flight entertainment system. We landed and walked thru customs in what I thought was record time, less than 30 minutes. There was no cool visa that we received just a little stamp. Before coming to Australia we had to go ... read more

Hello all, I am a sh1te travel blogger, haven't found enough time to want to come indoors and sit down behind a PC, but as some chump stole our beach bag with car keys and camera I’m forced to send a few emails. A new set of keys is on its way and we travelled with Lina's friends who took pretty much the same pictures as I did along the way. We are meeting up again with them in Byron Bay so I’ll upload some pictures around the 17th! It's pretty dam hot over here as you would expect, although it does drop down to a chilly 25 at night and you're forced to put a t-shirt on. We are in a medium sized town called Port Macquarie at the moment, lots of locals on holiday ... read more
