While we were in Sydney it was Australia day. Australians celebrate this a bit like we do for Burns day. It is a national holiday and everybody has BBQs and celebrates what it means to be Australian. Me and mum went to Darling Harbour for the day. All round the harbour there were lots of stalls selling Australian flags and tattoos and all sorts of stuff Australian. We got a flag and I got a tattoo on my cheek. There was also a big floating stage in the middle of the harbour and there were live bands playing music. Just before it got dark there were all sorts of important people on the stage, including the premier of New South Wales. They had an awards ceremony for people who had been brave or enterprising. The Premier ... read more

There is not too much of a time difference between Australia and Hong Kong. Depending on where in Australia it is about 5 hours behind. We flew through the day on another 747 plane into Sydney. Sydney is not the capital of Australia, Canberra is. Sydney is in New South Wales. This is located at the bottom right hand side of the map of Australia. Most people think that Sydney is the capital as it has 4.5 million people living there and is the most popular place to live. When we arrived in Sydney the temperature was 23 degrees at midnight. There was a sick man on our flight so it took a while to get off the plane. We got a taxi to our hotel which was in a famous place called Darling Harbour. It ... read more

November 12, 2010 Since we were moving over to a hotel in Surry Hills the next day, we decided to spend our last day at the Four Points Sheraton in our “backyard,” at Darling Harbour. The area specifically referred to as Darling Harbour was officially opened by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 1988. It’s kind of like a South Street Seaport or Navy Pier area where festivals and cultural events are held - lost of restaurants, bars, and fun things to do. We bought a three way pass (good for three months) to the Sydney Aquarium, Wildlife Adventures, and the Sydney Tower. Intrigued by the sign outside of Wildlife Adventures, “See One of the World’s Largest Crocodiles,” we headed there first. When we walked in we were immediately greeted by a Walking Stick. November 7, 2010 Th evening of our Sydney sightseeing tour (Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney Opera House, The Rocks, Botanical Gardens) ended with an Italian dinner out in Darling Harbour. Coincidentally, Raquel Salvadori, who was Brazils representative on the original Reebok Global Instructor team with me, had also been vacationing in Sydney. Her month in Sydney was just about to come to an end, just as ours was beginning. She had been renting an apartment on Manly Beach and ferried in to have dinner with us. The original purpose of her visit was for a friends wedding (one of her many Brazilian friends who has married an Australian) and like us, decided she might as well stay the month. I hadnt seen her since the launch of Reebok & Cirque du Soleil's JUKARI Fit to Fly in ... read more

November 1-3, 2010 You’ve never been on a long flight until you’ve flown to Australia. That said, it was not nearly as bad as I thought . . . and yes, were were in Coach. We flew threw LA from Chicago - three and a half hours and then another fifteen to Sydney. The plane we flew to Sydney was the largest plane Sean and I had both ever been on one - AirForce One style. The pilots had a staircase up to their cockpit. The Coach seats were three on each side and four in the middle and it seemed to go on forever. Good thing about this? Lots of exercise room for the pregnant lady. I probably got up every two hours to walk the isles, drink water and hang out in the ... read more

Yesterday I saw my first kangaroo and not just the one, I saw at least 30+ wild grey kangaroos. I saw them hopping and everything. They are so cute, well the little ones are. I did see a massive kangaroo, I can see how they cause damage. So today was my first day in central Sydney. I got the train into central Sydney train station. The trains over here are double deckers - pretty cool! The weather today wasn't very good. It has been raining for the last few days, so the sun hasn't been out fully yet - think i'm in for a shock when summer comes! I had a good walk around Sydney, starting in Darling Harbour. Darling harbour is quite a posh area with loads of expensive seafood shops. Saw some very interesting ... read more
