Our last few days in Sydney have been just great to relax, have a great family time with the Colfers, catch up with Alison and also to really get to know Sydney well On Monday the Coleman’s and Chloe (Tom was at football camp) headed off to Sydney. After a very leisurely start to the day (with a bit of football, running etc thrown in)…..we headed back towards Darling Harbour which has lots of interesting activities and sights on offer. I had been really taken with the National Maritime Museum and so the kids and Michele also spent some time there whilst I explored the sights in the harbor. Of particular interest was the exact replica of the ship Endeavour which was used by Captain James Cook on his voyages to Tahiti, New Zealand and also ... read more

Next morning, we walked through the very convenient hole in the fence to the station and bought our all day tickets for $23 each. This would allow us to access trains, most buses and some of the ferries across the bay. Just one problem – they were working on the train tracks over the weekend so we had to catch a replacement bus instead, which was nowhere near as comfortable and I couldn’t get up and walk around if I needed to, when my back got stiff. By the time we arrived at Central Station in Sydney I could barely straighten up. We had stopped next to Albert Park so I did some stretches and walked a little to get it mobile again. We wanted to see Chinatown first so we caught another bus, fortunately only ... read more

I'll provide you all with a nice update of the neighborhood where I'm staying ! It's the prettiest and also most active at night. I'm staying in Kings Cross region of NSW @ Elizabeth Bay rd. Darlinghurst rd is only 1 streets away of my residence, and it's Sydney's notorious red-light and entertainment district. So a small picture like update about the neighborhood, where there is always some action going on and where the nights can be dangerous. At the 5th of March I went to an Intern meeting arranged by Internships Down Under, it was at Kings Cross => Grill’d Darlinghurst, we had some nice hamburgers and a good chat! For the second part of this week, I head out for a nightly trip to Darling Harbour for some nice pictures of the bridge and ... read more

Monday 3rd February, 2014. Wildlife Sydney, Darling Harbour, Sydney, NSW, Australia As the weather forecast was a bit iffy we decided to go into the city to Darling Harbour to visit the Wildlife Sydney Zoo located in Darling Harbour. This small zoo concentrates entirely on native Australian wildlife which is one of the many things that make Australia a unique environment on our planet. There are some species found here that are not found anywhere else on earth. After alighting from the bus we made our way to Darling Harbour where we queued for our tickets. While we waited D took some photos of a cute Koala Bear who was sitting in a tree next to the queue barriers. Thanks to Rach we got a two for one deal with her tokens from the Hays Book. ... read more

Wednesday 22nd January 2014. Sydney Aquarium, Sydney, NSW, Australia We caught the bus into town and, armed with Rachel's discount vouchers, made for Aquarium Quay in Darling Harbour. We had been here before and thoroughly enjoyed it. The queue was incredibly long. We waited for about 45 minutes before we arrived at the cash desk. We tried, and failed, to get a combi deal with Rach's vouchers so settled for the BOGOF option on just the Aquarium. The first thing we came to was the Duck Billed Platypus (DBP) exhibit. We had waited for ages last time we were here and saw nothing. This time however, joy of joys, there was one of the little beasties swimming around all over the place with its eyes tightly closed (normal apparently). Photos were useless as it was too ... read more

Finally starting to get used to the time zone here so just chilled in the morning yesterday. We are a bit fed up of all the walking so decided upon more of a chilled day. There was a bit of cloud in the morning but it started to clear so we went to Darling harbour to sit in the sun. The sun was really hot so I had a two scoop ice cream in a cone it was massive! We were really hot walking back so decided to dip our legs in the pool at the hostel. Ashley went to a boxing class in the evening but I stayed at the hostel. We had been invited to this food thing by some Danish guys in his room in the dining room, so I headed that way ... read more

It’s hard herding cats, but I think trying to organise a travelblogging get together might be harder. By definition, travellers are wanderers, mostly independent free-thinking types, who could be here one minute and anywhere the next. Where will I be in a month, you ask? Well, that depends on what sort of opportunities present themselves between now and then. So a big thank you to Dancing Dave and Laila the Tuarewg for organising a great weekend in Sydney, open to all and any travelbloggers to join in the fun. The “Dancing Duo” really put on a great show, including some spectacularly good weather. As an aside, the winter weather in Sydney this year has been very kind (with the memorable exception of the ten days of ra... read more

MONDAY 20.5.2013 Had a lovely leisurely drive up from Shell Harbour with Kaz and Reg, it was wonderful of them to drive us up to the White Bay Cruise Terminal in Sydney, boarded the Sea Princess by about 12.00 and had lunch whilst awaiting our departure at 4.00p.m. The boat was a bit late leaving heading out at about 4.40p.m., we thought it would be dark before we got outside the heads in Sydney but were very lucky to see everything as we cruised out under the Sydney Harbour Bridge and past the Opera House at about 5.30p.m. Absolutely SENSATIONAL!! views, we don't go much on Sydney as a city but it is very, very pretty. Many smaller boats, ferries etc on the harbour also people walking up the harbour bridge stopped to view the huge ... read more
