Fik bl.a.set Operahuset.

Today we had a jam-packed itinerary around Sydney starting with the ferry from Manly to the CBD at 8am. I quite liked the idea of getting the ferry to and from work each day like the locals! Our first stop was a closer look at the Sydney Opera House, despite its slightly dirty appearance it still looks pretty impressive standing at the edge of the harbour. We then walked through the botanical gardens to Mrs Macquaries point, where a seat carved into the stone is named 'Mrs Macquaries chair'. After a quick dash back to circular quay we hopped onto a ferry to Watsons Bay; this is the landing site of the first fleet back in 1788. It also has a magnificent view of the Pacific Ocean at a spot called 'The Gap'. We had arranged ... read more

So on the one day that Steffan and Hannah were able to show off their new city to us it rained ALL day! We still headed from manly into the city and opted for the Museum of Sydney. We explored some of the other buildings in the city including the Queen Victoria building, which has a magnificent clock, and the customs house with its model-sized version of Sydney CBD under the glass floor. The evening consisted of a catch-up with home & away and neighbours and a delicious quiche dinner made by Hannah. Bailey's bit: It seems we were very lucky on our trip down the coast. Cyclone Oswald has made ground fall in north eastern Australia causing damage and severe flooding. Bundaberg, where we were only 5 or so days ago, is now at points ... read more

Jet leg is over kids woke up at 7am for the first time. Today we will walk to Paddington this is were Josefin and Adam lived and still have their apartment. There is a nice Saturday market which we visited until lunch I bought a very nice top designed by an Australian lady.. In the afternoon we met Adam’s parents, his Sister Kelly and her daughter. They were a bit late because neither of us realised there could be more than one Medina hotel in Sydney. They invited us for a nice lunch at Victoria Building after lunch we walked together to the rocks and had a nice look around. It was very nice to meet them after 12 years and we promised each other that we won‘t wait another 12 years before seeing each other ... read more

Jennyfer took the 08:15 train to Newcastle this morning to visit Nuweigh. City rail worked well and she got there and back without problems for only $16! The boys and me went to pick up the rental car, a light blue Holden Cruzer. Despite the local car brand I had some trouble blending in to the pumping Sydney traffic. Central Sydney was perhaps not the best place to pick up left-hand driving again. After a few navigational mishaps we managed to get out to Bondi Beach where we spent a beautiful morning watching the surfers, the skaters, and people jogging and strolling along the beach. In one end of the beach we found a winter-fair complete with an ice-skating rink with real ice. The boy’s spent an hour watching the activities at the skate park. Curt ... read more

To day was a caching up day. We slept in and had a late breakfast. At 11 we went to the Sydney Aquarium. It was impressive with beautiful display of all type of sea animals, colourful fish, large sharks and rays, octopi and cuttlefish, cabs and lobsters, and corals. The most spectacular part was the tunnel through the shark tank. When we walk around in the aquarium Jan called and we decided to meet the whole Ashe family on Saturday after lunch. They will come to the hotel and we will go somewhere for coffee or an early dinner. After the aquarium we went for some late lunch at the Darling harbour waterfront. We had hamburger for the boys and a pumpkin soup for Jennyfer, simple but tasty. After that Curt and Nils navigated us to ... read more

Good morning!!!! We were all very good and stayed up until 11pm (kids) 12pm Fredrik and myself This morning we woke up at around 8:30 had a good breakfast and went out to explore and decided to go to the zoo. From our apartment we walked through the centre of the business district with many seriously looking suits. We found a nice coffee bar to get our first coffee to go. It was a 20-minute walk to the Circular Quay where we took the ferry from the second pier to the Taronga Zoo. From the ferry we had a beautiful view of both the Opera house and Harbour Bridge. There were even some sailing boots out mid winter ;) The ferry only took 10 min and after we arrived you could choose how to enter the ... read more
