1. Sydney Harbor This should actually be the first stop on any kind of Australian itinerary. Any visit to the harbor can take in many of Sydney's preeminent points of interest just like the Sydney Opera House plus Sydney Harbor Bridge. Take a Sundown Dining trip on the harbour in order to appreciate the city from the sea. 2. The Sydney Opera House Investigate this famous construction from each and every possible angle! Have a tour to get a greater insight into the actual day-to-day workings of the Opera House after which you can experience a performance (it's not all Opera you realize!). 3. Sydney Harbor Bridge This amazing bridge towered over Sydney Harbor long before the Opera House was even a shimmer in the architects eye. You can take a look at the bridge on ... read more

3rd June We had an easy run into Sydney, it helped it being a Sunday and going around the city instead of through it as I know what Sydney traffic is like. It is still raining while we set up camp in the caravan park, we get through it and are set up in a flash. The park we are staying at is the one that they use for some of the outdoor caravan park scenes in Home And Away. My mission for the afternoon was to do the washing as I hadn’t done any for a while. We put Chloe down for a sleep, the girls did some more school work. I’m loving the commercial washing machines having done 3 loads in 20 minutes then into the dryer cos of the rain, and all done., ... read more

Boarding my plane to Sydney I'm immediately greeted with a warm welcome by the team of all male air stewards, all over 50, all a little bit camp with a wink wink here and nudge nudge there, you could have made a comedy show out of them. "More wine madam?" they ask, almost encouraging you to get drunk as when you reply yes they give you not one bottle but two. The girl in the seat next to me is from Sydney and is really chatty. We hit it off immediately and spend 5 hours chatting, laughing & drinking wine before finally dropping off to sleep for just 2 hours before our flight lands. I proceed through to passport control, being shown what queue to stand in by a woman that calls me "Darl" which makes ... read more

Visited Sydney to get some culture at Allphones Arena. Went to Toronga Zoo for the first time - just amazing. Travelled around via train and ferry. Walked across the bridge and generally had a lazy weekend full of food, sights and experiences. I never tire of visiting this city.... read more

We woke up by the door knock from the cleaners. It was a sunny day and the streets were packed full of people. It was 11:02am. The cleaners wanted to clean our room, but we said "No". :) We were still sleeping... -.- We got changed and headed off to have a look around Sydney. We went to the harbour where the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge was. We went for a walk around the Opera House. The Opera House was like a creamy white colour and the steps to get to the Opera House was browny. We weren't allowed inside the house, because we needed to buy a ticket for the tour. The Opera House was surrounded by water. The Opera House has several rooms to hold concerts. We stayed there for about 1hour. ... read more

Pt Two-On the way to OZ. Gogo Inflight WiFi is a beautiful thing. I used the Internet during the whole flight to SFO. My new companion turned out to be all right-we chatted a little bit then went back to our respective activities. The flight landed at SFO on time, and even though I flew from Terminal 3 to the International terminal,I still had plenty of time. I waited in line to recheck in (had to do this for London),only to find out it wasn’t needed.Bye-bye, ten mminutes of my life! So I headed upstairs to this Mexican restaurant that looked appetizing-turns out it was basically fast food. However, the enchilada was pretty good, and came out quickJ Soon it was time to board, and I could tell that my odds of having my two seats to myself were pretty high ... read more

Australia – Sydney – The Opera House, The Harbour Bridge, The Blue Mountains and all topped off with a little bit of wine tasting and not forgetting a random catch up with a friend from Norwich! After a fantastic time on the great Ocean Road it was time to embark on my first experience with the Greyhound Bus service. I guess it’s fair to say I’ve been spoilt with some brilliant buses in Asia where you could fully recline the seat and there would only be three seats across the bus, so when I got shoe horned into my small seat on the Greyhound bus I knew it was going to be an uncomfortable twelve hours. Thank fully it passed without any major drama’s and I arrived in Sydney a little tied through lack of sleep ... read more

It’s been some days since my last post, so I’ll try to write as much as I remember. Last time I wrote was the day after I went to “Jurassic Lounge” in the Australia Museum. That’s the problem of having let too many days pass, because now I’m having a hard time remembering what I did last week. I’ll just write about the things I do remember and work on the details after I actually post this. Mainly, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday I hanged out with the same people from couchsurfing. Wednesday I stayed home during the morning looking in the web for places to stay, and in the evening I took a bus to a suburb called Maroubra, to look at a house where they were expecting me to talk about possibly moving in. The ... read more

Saturday 15th of February I was invited for lunch to Felipe Kovacic’s house in Chatswood. He’s a retired navy officer who I met briefly in the Chilean Naval School. He’s been living in Sydney for some time now, with his French wife Isa and their 11 month son, Bruno. Turns out, both our fathers were classmates at the Mackay British School in Chile, small world again. Besides me, they invited an Armenian – Iranian couple and a French couple. It was a very pleasant afternoon and after the other guests left, I stayed several more ours chatting with Isa and Felipe; “lunch” ended up at about 8 pm. After that I went back to the house I was staying in Marrickville (the retirement house now turned into a flat) and when I got there, the Valentine’s ... read more

Hi all, I write whilst still in Sydney, though we are out of there a week Saturday to once again start off on our travels. The new job is going swimmingly. I got a chance on my second week to go on a road trip out of the city, so it was my first chance to see some of Australia that wasn't city. The destination was Wagga Wagga, a small lifeless town somewhere near (I say near, but this is Australia so I really mean about 3 hours away from) Canberra. We stayed in a trailer park and I was able to get to know the people from work pretty well over the course of the week. They are now good friends and we often have some drinks after work on Friday and Saturday. I got ... read more
