Wow 40 years...How time flys....We had 110 persons at our home...From our different walks of our life. We were lucky that 4 of the 5 kids could attend. Pete and his family just moved this past January to Winchester, KY. Pete has not time off right at the moment. We had Pete's brothers and their families come, some of my family, and tons of friends. Mike, our youngest son, somehow put himself in charge of boat tours. We were amazed, friends told us Mike had given them a great tour. Some had never been in a sailboat. Some said they didn't care if they ever were on another, but that Mike had been so charming...And wanted to know about all his girl friends...John was actually great also. Everyone seem to be at their peak. We served ... read more

Here we are in April already. Pete has rewired most of the boat. A 35 gallon waste tank has been installed. The air conditioner is now working. We have transfered the equipment from Zoo, and it is up for sale. New main sail cover, all new canvas, propane tank installed in the stern. Pete is working on aft cabin making an anchor well. Pete will take drawers from front locker, install shelves instead, more useful. Will install drawers elsewhere in the boat. Pete has improved his skills in the carpentry, doing beautiful work. Pete is in process of installing a 6 gallon water tank on top of the front locker, this will be drinking water only. A Danforth is being install on the bow. My cousin, Maty, has sent us a beautiful Virgin of the Charity, ... read more

So last weekend I decided, on a whim, that I wanted to go to Japan. Now I've been saving for a trip to Europe next year, but I really need a break from work. So, after making a joke with some friends about flying over to Japan to check out the premiere of a new movie, I found that the flights were very reasonable. I went ahead and booked the flight, booked a Hostel, then asked for time off work. Little backwards eh? I'm leaving April 16th for 10 days, although I lose a day or two in travel... oh well. I'll be there for Cherry Blossom time too, which I hear is one of the most beautiful times of year for Japan. I can hardly wait. Please feel free to drop me a line if ... read more

Staples Remodel--Bartlesville, OK2004-03-28Hey Everyone, I just got back from working 12 days in Bartlesville, OK, doing a Staples Office Supply store re-model. I know I said I'd never do a Staples store again, but the last on I did was almost 6 years ago and I thought I'd give it another go. I'm glad I did. This was alot of fun. Our project leader was Valerie and she was training another co-worker, Joe, to be a project leader. It was so nice to work with them. They were both laid back and pleased with all of our team's work and told us so several times. We didn't have a lot of time to go sight-seeing because we worked almost 10 hour days and then were too tired to do much else. On Sunday, our only day ... read more

Patrice and I took another one of our spontaneous one day road trips. This morning we headed out on the road to Sequoia National Park. We loaded up on Starbucks and were on the road by 6am. About 4 hours later we were on the twisting road heading into the park. As we climbed in elevation, snow started to appear on the ground and the Giant Sequoias started sprouting up. We started driving into the Giant Forest where the largest of the Sequoias were to be found. Many of the Sequoias here grow to a height of over 200 feet tall and up to 100 feet in circumference. After stopping at the Giant Forest Museum to check out the information and exhibits on display, we drove to the area where the largest trees were. We ... read more
