Last day of school was Friday, June 5. It feels good to be free of the responsibility of work. I had a really busy schoolyear and am excited to have some time to myself for the summer. The summer should be pretty busy as I am getting married, going to Europe for 18 days, going on my final Phish tour, among other side excursions. Should be a lot of fun.... read more

I just received much awaited GOOD news that I have finally been accepted into Kansai Gaidai. For those of you who have not heard the story, please allow me to explain. Without meaning to do so, I accidentally made the Kansai Dean of International Students very angry. The application process for entrance into the school was very particular and the entire packet consisted of 20 pages. Because it has been a passion of mine for quite some time, I made sure that each page was perfect. The last thing I wanted to do was to upset the school. Well, that didn't really work out for me because I did make them mad, really mad. You see the last item on the packet "to do list" was to include 10 photos. It did not clarify on the ... read more

Wow ... I can't believe it. In only 5 days, I will be leaving on my trip. It's surreal to think that it's already here. The months flew by ... and I still have tons to do before I leave. Purchase supplies, Eurail passes and insurance ... pack up my room ... say goodbye to my friends and loved ones. As excited as I am about leaving on this wonderful adventure, I'm a little sad to say goodbye. The trip is only a little over two months, but it's quite a large chunk of time when you think about it. What does this trip have in store for me?  I'm hoping for a whole new perspective on life, a clarity that is difficult to achieve while going through the routines of your everyday life. I hope ... read more

Hi Everyone,   Guess what! They changed my Staples remodel destination again. First it was supposed to be New Jersey or Pennsylvania, then it was supposed to be Kernersville, NC. Now I think I actually know where I'm going because I have a flight # and hotel reservation. I'm staying in Bradford, PA and working about a half hour away in Olean, NY. Olean is in the south western part of New York and not anywhere near The City. I do want to do some sight-seeing on our only day off  on Sunday. The closest interesting things are Buffalo and Jamestown, NY and Niagara Falls and they,re about 2 and a half hours away.   We fly out of Wichita on Wed June 2 and flying into Buffalo, NY later that night. That will be cool.   :)   Will tell you more when I ... read more

At The Foot of the Mountains Saturday May 22, Kelly met me in Garden City at my hotel about 8am and helped me pack my car and his for our trip to Colorado. We didn't really know where we were going, but it would be either Colorado Springs or Denver and their surrounding areas. I checked out and we headed to Scott City where we dropped off my car at his dad's house for the few days we would be gone. They were getting their house sided and his step mom was very nervous because already the siders had made 2 mistakes. Anyway we got what we needed in the car and headed west. We didn't have to decide which direction to go until we got to Kit Carson. Arriving at the point of decision, we ... read more

May 14: We worked 8-5. Staples turned 18 years old and the store bought cake for everyone to celebrate. After work the 6 of us went to eat dinner at El Charro Mexican Resaurant. It wasn't bad, but I agree with Jana when she said, "I wouldn't make a special trip to come back." Gary, our Staples project manager, was supposed to meet us there, but Jana accidentally gave him the wrong directions and he didn't find it. He ate somewhere else that night. After we ate I drove around to get a feel for the town. It's way too small for me although it has everything someone could need: plenty of shopping, fast food, convenience stores, churches, libraries, a football field-size pool, nice roads and neighborhoods, etc. Just a small town. Then I went back ... read more

Flickr Set: Arizona / New Mexico I suppose I should write about my most favorite place in the Southwest, how I was enchanted by the spirits of Native Americans who once lived in New Mexico or all the adventure I found. But Im going to let the pictures do the talking, because trying to explain a solo road trip where I saw few people is best left unexplained!... read more
