Where would you find one million gooney birds and forty-five humans all living on a historically significant island? Yes, it’s Midway Island, five days from Tokyo and two days from Hawaii. As we went ashore, we couldn’t believe all the albatross with their chicks on every square inch of this ten mile long island. Midway is mainly known because of the battle of Midway during WWII. Today, it is a bird sanctuary under the US Department of Fish & Game. It also acts as an emergency stop over for jumbo jets between the US and Asia. We were only the first of two cruise ships to be allowed to stop at this island this year. We always love our visits to Hawaii. This time the Voyager Club took us to Waimea Canyon on Kauai and as ... read more

Officially, the "Middle Age Crazy" tour has commenced.  After coming from the salon for a night of Cabo primping, I get home to find Randy and Rod discussing serious topics on the phone with Troy.  Specifically, Troy and Stephanie made it to Oakland from Denver.  Troy decided to walk to a convenience store for some beer - they had 4 hours until they had to get up to make their 6am gate call to Cabo.  So I join in the conversation: Me:  Is that Troy? The park is located near King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. The major landmark here is the very large King of Prussia Mall. You see it from the highway as you make the turnoff for Valley Forge park. Even so, at Valley Forge today one can still get a sense of the terrain and the size and layout of the site as it was during the Revolutionary War. The park has been very well preserved, though it is located near a large Philadelphia suburb. The visitor center has exhibits and shows a film about ... read more

It will be a while before I post any REAL travel journal entries.  For the time being, I am stuck in Corporate America.  It is driving me crazy being here while my sister is in Belgium, my friend Aric is in China, my friend Clarence is moving back to Japan in July, and I know that this is the BEST time to travel.  There has been several changes in my life over the past few months.  Hopefully things are settling down and I can soon plan a trip to wherever.  I want to see my sister and go back to Europe, but I also would LOVE to see Japan again.  Knowing I have a friend there is making the temptation harder to resist.  However, lately, I have been wanting to experience a place I have yet ... read more
