Sunday, 11 September 2005 Trump Hotel and Casino Gary, Indiana Day Two. Time 2000. Janet and I had another volatile misunderstanding. She IS not feeling well, not at all, and it all works on her mind and emotions, as well as her physical strength. And I get in a snit, and don’t help. But we finally got on the road. Today, all we have done is drive. From Chillicothe, Ohio, to here. Gary, Indiana is at the absolute bottom of Lake Michigan, and really, Gary, Hammond, Indiana, and Chicago are all one big megalopolis. You go from one to another without realizing it unless you actually see the signs. We got in here about 1900. Tomorrow the plan is to visit the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry, which has the former German U-505, the ... read more

At the end of a working trip on Work and Travel program in California I was riding the race on bicycle organized by a local club Bikethewest around Lake Tahoe to commemorate the anniversary of the September 11th of the terrorist attack on on the twins. At the start we met at around five hundreds, so I did not feel so alone in the race as if I was touring around the lake itself. At first I went quite stiff before I warmed up. After all, the start was pretty soon and at an altitude of 2000 m the September is already very cold. Some said that even at night, even a little freezing. The track was about 300 meters of superelevation and there has been placed two refreshment stations. I finally arrived at our destination ... read more

Bye Bye cruising life Bye Explorer of the Seas Day full of goodbyes. We had an early morning start this morning and were amongst the first set of people to be able to disembark the Ship at 7AM. There was a bit of delay with passing through Immigration because they were having computer problems. That gave us a little bit more time to say our goodbyes and thank you’s to Christie. Since Laura and I were sharing the same last name and the same address we were able to fill in one immigration form. Technically Laura and Alice were in transit and would be flying into Seattle and then driving home to Vancouver on the same day. I was going to be flying into Atlanta and hanging out there for a couple more weeks. But since ... read more

Sorry I have no pictures for this blog. So the last day of the tour was pretty good. Easy to leave this boring group, although luckily a couple of the girls from my original group were staying in la so we hung out for the day at the beach. Kel & Fiz were staying with me that night and we stayed in Beverly Hills. We went for a long walk along Santa Monica Boulevard hoping to see some famous people but the walk was too long & we got tired so turned around just before The Viper Room (Johnny Depp's club). Next day we went shopping in Beverly Hills. We were way too tired to go out that night and besides, it was our last day in the USA the next day anyway. Kel & Fiz ... read more

I am physically in England, but my head is so in BR right now. I've been couped up in the library writing for class...actually I've been reading play for play of the LSU game. It sounds like it was awesomeeee. I miss you guys so much! But that's okay, we can all watch the National Championship game together in January. Bad night in Brighton: Last night I went out in Brighton with my friend Laura and her friend from Wales and my friend Ashley. Firstly, the girl from Wales says "cunt" alot, and she noticed I was cringing. She thought it hilarious to call me that all night....god that was so vulgar. Anyway, we were on the bus, and these French guys in the seats behind us were trying to hit on us and talking about ... read more

Here is a short summary of the past couple of days.... 9/8/2005 We left Memphis, TN at 7:00am and began our drive through Arkansas to our destination of Oklahoma City. We followed I-40 West across the entire state of Arkansas. Nothing eventful happened as we didn't stop for any tourist type activities. We did notice some 'different' location names....like "Toad Suck State Park". Makes you wonder how they came up with such a name in the first place. We arrived in Oklahoma City around 3:00pm and had no problem finding Ivan's house. Thank goodness for internet directions LOL. We were all so tired we didn't do much else except visit and catch up. 9/9/2005 Kim and I needed some emergency 911 work done on our hair. Luckily Ivan could squeeze us in at his shop. (He ... read more

This day we decided to take a hike, a real hike. The weather was clear, although a little cool, but it would warm up in the afternoon. We started with an easy walk around Sapphire Point, with views of Lake Dillon to the west and mountain views to the east. Alan laughed uncontrollably at my “hiking pants” and had to take a picture…..Hey, they were clean and I was comfortable, I really didn’t care how they looked! After our little ½ mile stroll around the Point, we drove up to Frisco for the real hike. We parked at the trailhead and began a 1 mile climb up the trail. The hiking guide indicated that if you could handle the 1st mile, the rest was not too strenuous. Boy, that first mile was long…….. We hiked about ... read more

North America » United States » Arizona » Sedona September 10th 2005
