Well, It's been a strange couple of weeks. We have finally made it to Dallas, Texas which is the end of our journey down the East Coast and through the Southern US after leaving Canada 41 days ago and travelling over 4,000 miles on Greyhound buses. We got to Kissimmee, near Orlando late one night only to find that Barbaras rucksack had not made it the whole way from Folrida City with us. The station was closed so we had to go on to where we were staying and call the next day to get it. It finally turned up two days later and so we had to put off going to any of the parks until we got it all sorted out. With that behind us we headed to Universal studios for the day. Our plane leaves in 5 hours. I am so excited and so nervous at the same time. Its always wierd traveling to the unknown but thats whats exciting about it as well. David seems a little on edge this morning I guess I should have let him sleep in a little longer but hopefully by the time we get on the plane all will be well again. I cant believe I have a 9 hour flight ahead of me to Zurich Switzerland followed by a 9 hour train ride to Rome. I cant wait to see Switzerland and the georgeous glaciers and mountains. Its a winter wonerderland over there right now and a brisk 37 F degrees. Nothing I cant handle. Well I am about to shut my computer down so it can sleep for the ... read more

ARE WE THERE YET? No... still driving. We left Amarillo Tx.at 5 AM. We always have coffee (weak) and homemade wholewheat bread, feta cheese and olives before we start so that entitles us to a second breakfast at 9 AM. The real thing--bacon, eggs, potatoes. Makes the camper smell like a campfire because some of the pans were last used over a fire in the Big Horns last fall. We picked up new Texas maps at the Wichita Falls rest area and took a little rest. Have to be ready for the Big D. We went into Dallas via 114. Lots of trucks for a little while on the two lane road that they are working on making into a divided. Maybe next year? It is divided east of I-35. From there we slipped down to ... read more

Today we decided to brave the mean streets of downtown Dallas, actually it wasn't that mean, it was nice, clean and suprisingly quiet. Then again, only us, the homeless and the Mexicans ever walk anywhere here! We saw the place where President Kennedy was shot, the photo shows the 6th floor window of the building from where he was allegedly gunned down. A webcam is permanently positioned in the window. We had a wander through downtown, admiring the buildings and found our way to the Dallas World Aquarium, an excellent building which recreates many areas of jungle and aquatic life, including a tank which you can walk through with sharks swimming around you. Later we took the authentic old trolley bus to a nice district with shops and restaurants and ate at a Texan Steak House, ... read more

Louisa had marmite on toast for breakfast, a cause for great excitement,.. for Louisa. Watched United v Arsenal live on Theo's massive TV, almost as big as a football field in fact. Anthony bought us the biggest sandwich we'd ever seen which lasted us for 2 days. Another evening of wine and intellectual conversation ensued.... read more

Another lazy day, watched some English football, did some research on the internet for the next stage of our trip, played with Asher, a constant amusement, sat and drank more wine, and chatted with Theo and Vivienne about life, the universe and everything. As I said before, a nightly ritual putting the world to rights :-) Here's a photo of Theo's suped-up Ford Escort supercar, designed to jet around Plano scaring women and young children, particularly Vivienne ;-) ... read more
