So my last night in Knoxville (for 3 months) was this past Friday. We went, of course, to the Old City for one last blow out. Brady drove Dennis and I down there and others trickled in throughout the night. We ended up on the 3rd floor of Sullivans and proceeded to drink way too many V-Ray shooties and various other alcoholic concoctions. I leave tomorrow for Argentina and arrive there on Tuesday morning. I'll update this when I arrive! Wow, I just uploaded all of the photos and realized I am a huge ham. I'll try not to be in ALL of the pictures next entry. Until Tuesday!!!... read more

I spent too long in northern Ohio. It is a barren land, flat and devoid of character. Lake Erie is a vast gray sea swept by polar winds from the north of Canada. It's warmer here in Tennessee, much as West Virginia was in the early Fall. Though I am nearing 100 days on the road on this trip, I realize I've only seen a small fraction of what I'd like to see of this country/continent/planet. More to come on Tennessee. ... read more

After the weekend a Mackinaw, we went back to Lansing Michigan for one night and then we drove on to Elkhart, Indiana to have some work done on the coach. When that was finished we continued south to Tennessee to attend Judy's High School Class Reunion and the Tennessee Homecoming, which is held every October. We arrived in the dark at the campground in Jellico Tennessee and it was raining. Found our way into the place and picked out a site. Judy's brother, Tracy Jack Davenport and his wife Shirley live in Jellico with their children and grandchildren. Judy's sister, Sierra Langley and Mother Lorene drove in from Springfield Virginia. Sort of a mini family reunion. The reunion was a great success and we stayed a week in Jellico to do some genealogy work at a ... read more

It's a family tradition... one that began before I was even born when my parents honeymooned in the fun little mountain town. Many years have passed, and here I am 23 years old, and the family still continues to make the yearly drive up into the mountains to celebrate each passing anniversary that finds my parents. Gatlinburg is mostly a tourist town, clinging to the smells of hot chocolate, fudge, and the history of panning for gold, and nearby indian reservations, and the bears who wander around nearby. You can shop for mementos of the trip, people watch, or just enjoy all the touristy attractions - it seems as if Ripley's museums own half the city!... read more

Oct 22nd 2006 Having lived in Nashville for 4 years, fall colors or pictures during fall were not a big deal for me. But that was not to be. For my sister Anitha who is here since Aug 2006, this was her first fall and this trip was for her The 444-mile Natchez Trace Parkway commemorates an ancient trail that connected southern portions of the Mississippi River, through Alabama, to salt licks in today's central Tennessee. The National Scenic Byway and All-American Road can be experienced through driving, hiking, biking, horseback riding, and camping. We took a drive through the portion of the Natchez Trace Parkway close to Nashville, TN. We were a week too late to witness the full foliage of fall colors. The colors were at a peak but many of the trees had ... read more

So this is my attempt at an entry to my travel blog. I leave Atlanta at around 5pm on November 6th, have a layover in Houston for about 3 hours, and then finally arrive in Buenos Aires November 7 at around 11am I think. I've got reservations at a hostel in Palermo for 5 days, and after that I'll have to figure it out. The plan is to find an immersion school to study at for at least a month, if not two. I'll also spend those first five days figuring out my accomidations for the next month or two. Do I want an apartment, should I go with something through the school, can I find room somewhere, etc... At least the last month will be spent travelling around Argentina and/or other South American countries. ... read more

Camped in the Shennendoah National Park and had deer walking through our campsite. Tried camping in the Blue Ridge but it couldn't accomodate our Winnebago. Off to the Smokey Mountains. Cades Cove. Saw more black bears than deer. Beautiful country.... read more

I woke up at 11am and wondered what I had missed out on, but there actually wasn’t anything on the agenda to do today, nor did I knobbishly miss any buses to Kentucky for the day. Eddie did catch the bus to Kentucky yesterday to go to an Irish sports bar that is televising the Gaelic Football grand final with his team the underdog. I walked downtown in search of food and maybe a bit of sightseeing. I wanted to check out the Country Music Hall of Fame but at $17 I thought it was a bit steep. Instead I would get my musical fix at the Hard Rock Café down here in Nashville. At least in the streets downtown they were a little busy. Outside of the city limits and the streets were deserted ... read more

Dirty. Stinky. Hungry. The first three things that came to mind when I woke up. Remember, I hadn’t even had a chance to shower since I left LA so I was in urgent need of some serious bathing! Once I got rid of the first two thoughts, I had food on my mind. I was telling Lara about the terrible hot dog, when Rebecca ran in from another room “Are you guys talking about food?” “Damn hell yeah we are!” Steph and Torie are rounded up and the four of us receive a hot tip about Rotier’s, a family owned restaurant west of Downtown. I wasn’t sure of what to expect but a big brekkie would do just fine. Readers, I’m getting hungry recounting this to you. The eggs were fried just right. The yolk ... read more

I knew I missed that flight to Nashville and the roaming customer service attendants on the checkin floor confirmed it to me. They told me to check in as usual as something would be arranged. “Hi, can I help you?” “I think I missed my flight” In Australia, if a flight is missed - tough luck. Here in the USA, airlines usually overbook flights because people (knobs like myself) miss flights and therefore people fly a) on standby and b) for dirt cheap. My plane was overbooked and I was put on another flight, via Dallas to get into Nashville at 10.10pm. I wish I could spend a few days in Texas but apart from sightseeing, there isn’t much I could think of and my friend Li from Xanga was now working in LA, but I ... read more
