Indian Mountain State Park
This is a beautiful park and will always be the place we will park when visiting Jellico. After the weekend a Mackinaw, we went back to Lansing Michigan for one night and then we drove on to Elkhart, Indiana to have some work done on the coach. When that was finished we continued south to Tennessee to attend Judy's High School Class Reunion and the Tennessee Homecoming, which is held every October. We arrived in the dark at the campground in Jellico Tennessee and it was raining. Found our way into the place and picked out a site. Judy's brother, Tracy Jack Davenport and his wife Shirley live in Jellico with their children and grandchildren. Judy's sister, Sierra Langley and Mother Lorene drove in from Springfield Virginia. Sort of a mini family reunion. The reunion was a great success and we stayed a week in Jellico to do some genealogy work at a small cemetery in near by Scott County. While in Scott County we visited Big South Fork NRA and visited Raymond Little whom we had worked with at Big Cypress NP. Raymond is a Park Ranger at Big South Fork and treated us to lunch at an old coal mining town which is located within Big South Fork. To view Big South Fork you can take
Tracy Jack
Tracy, Judy's brother became quite the host, cooking us some fine dinners and truly made our vist enjoyable. a train out of Stearns KY which takes you into the coal mining town of Blue Heron which was a busy mining area in the 40s. The trip is worth while and the Park Service has done a great job on the presentation of local history in this area.
