Well, I'm glad to say that Russ and I are back on the road again. Woohoo! We spent 2 great weeks in Ohio, the time to rest and catch up on things as well as brain storm where our next pit stop would be was definitely appreciated. Our vehicle was returned to us on the 28th November so we went out that night with Jose's friends to celebrate which put our departure day back to the 30th after having too big a night. I think it was just part of Jose's plot to get us to stay a bit longer :) On Thursday we went back to the transmission place and had them check that the transmission wasn't leaking fluid and to disconnect our drive shaft and with an Adios Amigos we farewelled Jose' to head ... read more

11/17/2006 2:05 PM On the road again traveling north on I-65 to Louisville, Kentucky. The show in Nashville was interesting to say the least. We arrived a bit late but it was actually a better time to arrive. As we pulled into the parking lot of the club the sign said that “The Attrition” (instead of “Attrition”) which we all had a laugh at. After setting up the stage Brian readied Attrition for sound check which proved to be challenging to say the least. Major cabling problems. The snake had very few channels that actually worked. The walls were brick with nothing covering them except a coat of black paint and some cigarette smoke. The first band took the stage and had major problems with feedback. By the time HBS (High Blue Star) took the stage ... read more

11/15/2006 11:03 AM We left yesterday at around 6:30 pm for Nashville with a bus full of gear and merchandise (or swag - a term that was just pointed out to me recently). There are five of us in the bus; Myself, Brian, Laurie, Martin, and Edward. We kind of had a late start yesterday as Brian was finishing some needed work on the Nebuchadnezzar. Shortly into Wisconsin Brian announced that it was time to shift from ‘fascism’ to ‘freedom’ meaning changing from diesel to our reclaimed vegetable oil. We all cheered as he flipped the switch. He has spent the whole summer converting this thing and now it all works. The most noticeable change was watching the diesel gage not move for 300 miles. We drove on until about 4:30 am after spending the last ... read more

So last weekend I went caving. I had been looking forward to this trip for ages as it was overnight caving and I knew it was going to be lots of fun. We were really lucky that the weather was quite warm so the actual cave wasnt too cold, well not during the day anyway. So we drove to Tenessee (which is only an hour n half away) to Worleys cave. We had to cave for about 20 mins carrying all our sleeping and cooking equipment until we were at the spot where we were going to sleep for the night. Once we had settled in there we went off in groups just exploring and finding different holes and paths to follow. Was so much fun just being able to explore....felt like I was in The ... read more

Nashville's been good to me. I've been suprised by the people here, and my presuppositions have dissolved in the face of a population fed up with the status quo. Since it's election time, I've been able to overhear the local discontent with recent politics (though I imagine the feeling is not limited to this place). I will never think of Tennessee the same way after my days in Nashville. ... read more

I really like Nashville. Everyone is so friendly and fun. From eating at Boundry, to going into every honky tonk...roberts, stage, tootsies, etc, to printers alley....to the 2nd ave action. I need a hat and some boots and I think I would really fit in. It is a clean city with such a good atmosphere and vibe to it. I love the live music...especially at tootsies...it was a new experience for me. From abby, mr anderson and others...and now myself..i have developed and interest and liking for country music..the more i hear and listen..the more i enjoy it. I think people who don't understand country music need to come to nashville...as understanding the culture and people behind the music def does help. Regardless country music is my new thing. ... read more

My life has included lots of travelling. My father worked for an airline and believed in adventure. Actually, he still believes in adventure and so I know that is why I do too. :-) After college, I joined the Air Force and spent ten years as a communications officer. And lots of travel. I really enjoyed all that. After I left the service, my travelling slowed down a bit, but somehow I hung on to that notion of moving every couple of years. So I bounced around, lots of jobs, then finally went back to school and ended up in Nashville TN. I have lived here since 1995. Only moved once though - from renting to buying. I plan to live in this house for several more years and eventually move to Cookeville to live next ... read more
