On the road again traveling north on I-65 to Louisville, Kentucky. The show in Nashville was interesting to say the least. We arrived a bit late but it was actually a better time to arrive. As we pulled into the parking lot of the club the sign said that “The Attrition” (instead of “Attrition”) which we all had a laugh at. After setting up the stage Brian readied Attrition for sound check which proved to be challenging to say the least. Major cabling problems. The snake had very few channels that actually worked. The walls were brick with nothing covering them except a coat of black paint and some cigarette smoke. The first band took the stage and had major problems with feedback. By the time HBS (High Blue Star) took the stage we found that the back half of the stage had bad power, but not until after things started powering themselves down and Lauries vocal processor went blank. It eventually came back but we have no idea if it will work tonight. Aside from that the subwoofers were blown and half the monitors in the front of the stage were just nonexistent. By the end

of Attritions set (which I only ever hear-not see, because I am on merch for their set) the promoter of the show snuck out without paying us.

Martin found out as he left stage and went straight to the phone and called him. He told Martin that he left to try to get us some Vegoil, which was an obvious lie. The club owner grabbed the phone, playing along, and told the promoter that we were threatening to start taking equipment for payment and that he needed to come back.

As it turned out the club owner felt badly. It had nothing to do with him but he gave us the money from the till and put us up for the night. Members of the promoters band, along with a bunch of other people sent a posse out to his house to find him but his girlfriend was covering him. Not only did he have our money, he owed the club the room fee and the money from the till. In addition to that he had a Marshall half-stack that didn’t belong to him.

In the morning a couple of guys from his band met us an

apologized profusely and paid for our breakfasts at a really cool place in Nashville called Café Coco. After that we found a place a few blocks away that was a 50’s style malt shop that said we could take their grease. We pulled up and started the long process of reclaiming the oil. It took about 4 hours to empty the container so while Brian pumped oil everyone went to a bar called the Gold Rush and had a bit of dinner and a few pints. By the time the transfer was done we all met at the bar and Brian, Laurie, and I had some food and beer. Wyll (Will) offered to let us park our bus at his house so we wouldn’t need to find a rest stop in the middle of the night. We took him up on it. He introduced us to more band mates and his wolf, Tovenaar, about ten miles from Nashville. We slept until about 10:30, Laurie did her yoga in the back yard while the rest got ready to leave. Today is Laurie’s birthday and Wyll gave her a 1000 watt power inverter he had lying around when he found out. We

Good luck to you guys
I have to agree with Ben. It was a nuts situation. I, too, hope our future meetings will be met with better circumstances. Good luck in all you do, your music is really an inspiration
