Cape May NJ à Havre de Grace MD. Bonjour.

July 23, Thursday I headed over alone to visit with Dad and my sister Shirley and had a nice visit with lunch. Dad's koi fish pond is amazing, he has lots of huge koi's and many many smaller gold fish. The water in the 33,000 gallon in-ground pool / fish pond is crystal clear due to the great filter system Dad has designed. My Wayfarer sailboat and I got acquainted too. I found out that the tires I ordered, hoping they would show up at Dad's place in a timely manner, instead had an ETA of next Tuesday ! That's not gonna work too well. Fortunately, after a bit of communication with Southwest Moto Tires ( swmototires.com ) Erik was able to have them forwarded on to New Hampshire to Shirley's house. I'll be able to ... read more

Moved today to an anchorage off the Naval Academy so we would have wireless. Lots of activity: small sailboats racing and practicing, Navy YP vessels on which the midshipmen learn to drive bigger boats, cruisers, tour boats, etc. 10/30 - Beautiful day today: wind is down, sun is out. We took our dinghy into a dock right downtown beside the Naval Academy for brunch, errands and sightseeing. At the Academy, Memorial Hall is a handsome building, at the very center of everything, in which the many outstanding men and women who have died serving in the Navy, particularly Annapolis grads, are honored. Back at the boat we listened to the evening band concert while we watched the returning race boats, optimist dinghies, and naval vessels and a beautiful sunset. ... read more

Hinckley arrived at 7:30am to look at the boat. We had it pulled out of the water at a nearby marina (thanks to Peter’s hookups) and fixed and under way by 10:30 am. We said our goodbyes and headed to Solomon’s Island, about a 3 hour trip. Solomon’s Island was pretty cool. There were about 15 marinas all around, we stayed at a place called Zanhiser’s Marina. After cleaning up we walked in town to Kingfishers and had lunch. I had a Blackened Rockfish Gyro which was awesome! There was a restaurant/bar at the marina called “Dry Dock” that we went to for apps and drinks later in the night. Pecan crusted scallops in some sort of honey mustard sauce…yum! Contemplating the last few days, it was frustrating that we got such a slow start after ... read more

Nous ... read more

Well, we've been camping for the past several days and haven't had internet access. So, consequently we haven't been able to make blog updates. However, the campground we're in today and tomorrow has wi-fi, and we're right behind the main building, so we've got a good signal. So here's the low-down on where we've been... We drove from the Nashville area to Great Smoky Mountain NP, where we camped overnight. The camping in this park was slightly more rustic then some other national parks we'd been in (there were no showers available), but overall the site was fine. There are black bears in the park, so we had to take precautions in closing up for the night. But this is to be expected. We took a hike on a trail aro... read more
