Moved today to an anchorage off the Naval Academy so we would have wireless. Lots of activity: small sailboats racing and practicing, Navy YP vessels on which the midshipmen learn to drive bigger boats, cruisers, tour boats, etc. 10/30 - Beautiful day today: wind is down, sun is out. Sailing south for the winter is a dream both Gene and I have had for a long time. Neither of us is employed this year so it seemed like the time to go. Making that decision began what seemed like a marathon of tasks: long-postponed boat equipment upgrades; discussions with others who have made the trip before us; providing to have home chores like bills and maintenance taken care; weeding out stuff to make room for more clothes(mine!), food and water; charts, guides and software for the areas we would be visiting. At times it seemed we’d never be ready but at last departure weekend arrived... full info
