Well, today is my birthday and I'm shifting gears from Guatemala to China. I have 3 weeks until I leave. Willy Yang on Travelblog’s Asia Forum, enters great information from a guidebook about China. He has an entry about the Chinese horoscope. I was born in the year of the horse. “Horse People born in the Year of the Horse are popular. They are cheerful, skillful with money, and perceptive, although they sometimes talk too much. They are wise, talented, good with their hands, and sometimes have a weakness for members of the opposite sex. They are impatient and hot-blooded about everything except their daily work. They like entertainment and large crowds. They are very independent and rarely listen to advice. They are most compatible with Tigers, Dogs, and Sheep.” For those of you who know ... read more

My flight landed at Newark (New Jersey) airport at 3 am in the morning. Now it was time for immigration check we were ready with our immigration form filled in. We entered immigration counter and there were separate line for residents and non residents. It was my turn now. The lady who was having an immigration check entered my last name and her computer hanged it was because my last name is very common in US UK as well as in India its Singh (Sardar Insan nahin gadha hai :)).But I m happy with this comment because I m not a sardar I m Rajpoot. So at last her system got a check of mine and she gave me an immigration for 3 months. Then it was our turn to get our luggage and load it ... read more

Ritz Carlton Downtown This is the hotel I stayed at while in Atlanta. It was a beautiful hotel, huge bed, desk, small sitting area, big bathroom. They have in the morning where they clean your room. Then later on they have turn down service wher they come in and they turn down the bed covers. I dont smoke the also have a smoking floor but who knows for how long and a gym. The dressing rooms are filled with a couple of rooms and all the supplies you would need to groom your self. They have a 5 star resturant which was yummy. Westin Peachtree This hotel is a big tower in which goes quite high round tower and the highest floor is a resturant. Going up they have a glass elevator which can be nervracking ... read more

The weather in the Bahamas started getting worse with bad thunder and lightening storms 1-2 times a day. We decided it was time to leave the islands and return to America, to go north for the upcoming hurricane season. So we crossed back to Florida and have started our trek up the East Coast. After checking into Fort Pierce and experiencing the culture shock of being back in a place with a lot of people and a lot of cars, our first big stop was Cumberland Island National Park which is located at the border of Florida and Georgia. It is a favorite stop for many cruisers who enjoy its natural beauty, picturesque setting, and abundant wildlife. Cumberland Island is the largest of Georgia’s Barrier Islands and has many ecosystems. You can kayak through the marshlands ... read more

Despite my promise to keep my dollar in my pocket, the dollars have been flowing freely out. My lateness has always conflicted with my cheapness, and my grand plan to arrive at Oakland airport last night on the BART (cost: $4.50) conflicted with the hard fact that my suitcase was still empty at 10 PM. I reserved a $26 Bayporter shuttle at 3 AM and then went to sleep. I woke up this morning not to my alarm clock, but to the call from Bayporter saying my shuttle was waiting outside. Thankfully for me (but probably to the great chagrin of the other passengers), the driver agreed to come back for me 10 minutes later and I managed to throw everything into my backpack AND grab a Snickerdoodle from the kitchen before running out to the ... read more

Just feel like releasing some frustration. This post is mostly for my own good, so feel free to skip it. I have 4 days before I leave, and it is one stressful week! Most of them could be avoided, but procrastion is what I am good at. First, I had all kinds of problems with my bank (all good now). Second, my acceptance and registration letter from Sciences Po got returned to France by our wonderful GT post office. Thirdly, I have to take a test to show my knowledge of French, which involves writing something about advertisement and whether we can trust it (as if I care). I am very far from being packed, and neither do I have any idea how I can fit everything I need in one suitcase. I do have 4 ... read more

I really hate Delta. All that time I spent in line yesterday getting my flight rebooked was a waste. They had tried to put me on a flight out of Gatwick into Edinburgh so I wouldn't have to worry about purchasing another train ticket. Well, about 20 minutes after I left Nashville airport to head to my icky hotel room my "confirmed" flight on BA was cancelled. Now that flight is full. I get into Gatwick at 7am and my new flight to Edinburgh isn't until 8pm. So I spent another hour at the counter today while the same guy (bless his heart) tried to fix my flight. They gave me a note saying that it's the airline's fault I missed my train. I wonder if the UK train system cares. But at least I'm getting ... read more

My flight got in yesterday around 2:00 and I had a niiiiiice reception at the airport (thanks so much Jennie, Lexie, and Adam for being there!). It's really good to be home. First on my list were a long shower, a bath before bed, and a haircut this afternoon. I had a cold glass of milk, some diet coke, and peanut butter last night and they never tasted so good. I also couldn't wait to wash clothes and Dad jumped right on it and got them started. He called me in the laundry room after a bit and opened the lid...the water BROWN with dirt...and to think I was wearing those clothes for a whole month! Hehe..I've never felt more clean in my whole life! I can't even describe how interesting it was to wake up ... read more

Well, I am 7 days out from leaving the states. I feel ok about my preparation status. I got a backback, which I love and is very comfortable. Hooray REI. And I think I am well stocked in the toiletries and clothing department. Still waiting to hear about how the weather will be in Poland and Germany. I am hoping not cold, but somehow I sense that Imay be dissapointed. I have excellent news! I was really stupid when researching this 'Brzezinka' place that I was going to. Now, true, Brzezinka is the polish name for Birkenau, the camp attached to Auchwicz. However, it is also the name of the forest base camp about an hour from the Grotowski Center. So, I will not be in a concentration camp. Which soothes my nerves just a little ... read more
