In twelve hours I will be on a plane headed for Buenos Aires where I will arrive early tomorrow morning. My bag isn't yet fully packed, but I'm ready to go. Last night I dropped my sweetie off at the airport for his own trip this summer (4 weeks in Fukuoka University; 2 weeks at Tokyo Tech, and 6 weeks of backpacking throughout Japan). This is the first time we will have been away from each other for more than a week and the first time we've gone more than a day without talking to each other since we met. It'll be a good summer for growth though. A quote from my dear poet Kahlil Gibran: " When you part from your friend you grieve not; for that which you love most in him may be ... read more

Well as you may have noticed my blog is a little light on entry’s, this is for several reasons, the first being I am having too much fun to sit in front of a computer and type a load of waffle about all the amazing places we have been and the things we have got up to; following on from the first point we have been to so many amazing places and got up to so many amazing things that I would end up writing a novel! Suffice to say this trip has been fantastic, this country is so diverse, big cities, small towns, big mountains, big valleys and canyons, wide open plains of absolutely nothing, to fantastic beaches, I have picked my jaw up off the floor countless times. (Oh and some big ass scary ... read more

Well there really isnt too much to tell about the rest of my trip. I went from the Grand Canyon to just east of Amarillo in one day then the next day went from Amarillo to Atlanta. It was a lot of driving but to be honest I didnt get tired at all driving. I was supposed to go to the Petrified Forrest in Arizona, but after the Grand Canyon, I was ready to go home. And besides, what could top the Grand Canyon. Of all the places I visited, Tucson was the best. I mean you can see all these great places, but nothing tops meeting a really special person. In second place is a tie the Grand Canyon for the hiking the last day and surprisingly, Carlsbad Caverns for its otherwordly caves. Third place ... read more

So exactly a week from now I will be spending my first night in Costa Rica. I'm excited about meeting the family I will be staying with. Apparently I will be with a 61 year old woman, 60 year old man, their 25 year old son and his 2 year old daughter. I still have a lot of stuff to do. I need to go shopping for new clothes. Apparently in San Jose, only tourists wear shorts, so I need to buy some capris and skirts. The last thing I want to do is look like a tourist and then get robbed. I was told not to bring too many jeans because it is the rainy season in Costa Rica and most families let the clothes dry outside. I also would like to get a digital ... read more

Kate here... So we've started our blog a bit early, but at this point, anything that keeps us distracted and out of that damn money-sucking store that is REI is a good thing. I swear to God. I can't get out of there without dropping at least $100. ... read more

Hi there friends and family, I graduated on Sunday, May 7th, moved down to Atlanta on Monday, May 8th, and I'm already going crazy on Tuesday, May 9th. I leave for 9 days to NYC and Europe and I need to pull myself together! I haven't packed, I need to print out the hotel and flight information, I need to find a good travel purse, and I had to have the Passport agency expedite (?) my passport ($74.40) because Charleston's passport agency is backed up! EEK! I have absolutely no idea where I'm living next year at the University of Rochester, since I got waitlisted for various on-campus apartments. My best offer so far has come from 3 math grad students ( all guys) who are quite scholarly and are looking for a 4th roommate for ... read more

...blogging is the not-so-new journaling, and travel blogging, well, I suppose it's the new postcard... So, gone are the days of usually having to wait until I got home to mail post cards b/c I never got around to getting to a post office! I mean, really, nothing like getting a post card of the Sydney Opera House in Australia or a tea room in Morocco that is postmarked in Lilburn, Ga. I used to take a journal with me on any significant trip that I would go on...It's fun every once and while to dust one off and relive the memories of the places I went and the people I met. I think I still will for the sake of nostalgia, but I thought this might fun to share some pix along the way this ... read more

Graduating from the Univeristy of Georgia brings back many good memories. This artistic town always had something new and interesting to bring to the table, I'll always remember the many nights out with friends on the town enjoying the bar crawl environment, as well as the warm sunny days studying on North Campus. In the words of many before me... "It was the best 5 years of my life!"... read more
