So I asked for an Adventure, and Adventure I got! When I got in my car Saturday morning to drive to Atlanta, it wouldn't start. It was doing the same thing it did in Chicago, so I thought it would be an easy fix. After attempting a few things, I had it towed to the nearest Saturn dealer. It ends up costing $1900 because some wiring harness burned up. So I start freaking out and try to figure out how to get to London. The airlines will not change where I fly in and out of so, I had to find a way to Atlanta. Eventually, Julie discovers the cheapest way to get to Atlanta --- Greyhound. By the way, I wouldn't recommend taking Greyhound anymore. It was the shadiest thing I've ever done. I was ... read more

I know, I know, I know.....I left many of you hanging! For that, I apologize! Once we arrived in Orlando (Portofino Bay Hotel) I kinda lost track of where I was and what I was doing. Travel can do that to a person after awhile. Not to mention I was sick for a day or so and out of commission. The mammas were left to their own devices. Oh boy. Look out Orlando. Here come the mammas. They ended up having a great time on their own! They hung out by the (gorgeous) pool and dined at one of my favorite Italian restaurants, Mamma Della's. Of course they started talking about "the hill" (a.k.a. Federal Hill) with one of the singers/workers who serenaded them. Because it was my mom's 16th B-day she received a free desert, ... read more

For Memorial Day weekend, we packed up ourselves, our pooches, and our gear and headed north to a 'women only' campground near Dahlonega, GA called Swiftwaters Womanspace. The owners of this private creek-side property have operated a very cool camping experience for women since 1979. Sadly, we were not very good about taking pictures, but I managed to grab a few of Shay and Emma G. The weather was nice. Low 90's and pretty humid, with a few episodes of thunder and lightening in the distance. We endured one brief shower, but didn't even need to put the rainfly on the tent. The creek was nice and cold and just deep enough to wade in and cool off or take a float on an innertube. As we drove back home late this morning, I decided that ... read more

Hi everyone! Before I start writing down my frantic thoughts (once again), I just wanted to say thank you to all who have supported this journey across the pond (and to NYC). You know who you are! I honestly couldn't have done it without you, and I am so grateful that you were willing to support this endeavor. Please know that I will be thinking about all of you on this trip! And hopefully I'll have some good postcards and goodies to bring back with me. :) Now! It's Wednesday morning at 8:30 am and I have to be out of the house by 2. In typical Kira fashion, that means I haven't finished packing and I can't find my contact lens case. But I'm pretty sure it's downstairs. Pretty sure. The weather in New York ... read more

Mist of sunrise was hanging over the Northern Georgia town of Dahnolega when we arrived at seven in the morning. It has been a long day already, starting by waking up at four in Atlanta to meet up with the group at 5:30 am, to participate in the 10th Annual Ranger Run event. There are fifteen people in our group, doing the 5k Run, 15k Ranger Run, or the 34k Biking Race. The race is then followed by the US Army Ranger Open House which only happens once a year. I need to quote the Ranger Run mission statement from the Ranger Run website to illustrate a better description of the event: Each year during the spring, Camp Frank C. Merrill opens the camp and facilities to the public for a day. Visitors are able to ... read more
