I am back in Marietta, staying with my parents for the next 10 days until I leave. http://www.travelblog.org/gmaps/map_1wl.html Only 10 more days! My concert was a huge success!!! Everyone says they enjoyed themselves immensely, and we raised. . . (drumroll) 800 bones! Thank you so much to everyone who attended and to everyone who helped make the night flow smoothly. AND yesterday I finally got my US tax return for. . . 750 bones! Wooo! It pays to think you're still a dependant and take out extra taxes all year and then find out you are not! I have a GA tax return coming soon for around 200 USD sometime soon! And then there are the expenses. They certainly keep piling up. These past few days I have bought: *Train tickets in Italy; *a flight to ... read more

This is how we spent independence day! We spent a hot a humid Fourth of July at Stome Mountain in GA. The sky was clear most of the day and then intense thunder storms rolled in. We put our ponchos on and watched the lazer show. I tried to take pictures of the show but they didn't come out well. The fireworks pictures came out ok... ... read more

(disclaimer - I write this blog solely from my observation and information I received. I didn’t mean to offend anyone - so if you’re sensitive towards the homosexuality subject, I would suggest you to skip the blog, because this is not for faint hearted people) Ah, Atlanta. I always find cultures are interesting, that is probably the biggest reason I’ve been addicted to traveling, just to experience different things and explore new places. After two years residing in the big city of HOT-lanta, finally I realized that there is an obvious culture that I hadn’t even considered on exploring. The one Atlanta is famous for, the one is that so close that laid out before my very eyes. The gay culture. You do not need to be gay to experience the culture. The only thing needed ... read more

(For anyone north of the Mason-Dixon line, please note that the aforementioned phrase loosely translates to "May I offer you (singular) a cool refreshment?") Hi everyone! After hours of travelling, and waiting in the La Guardia airport for far too long (especially Connie), we made it back to our homes in one piece! Yay! And not a moment too soon, apparently. It turns out that AirTran Airlines (the airline that we were both flying on to go home to Atlanta and Cleveland) switched to a different computer system only today, and that system crashed! So in 50 airports or so around the US, lines are incredibly backed up (with a four hour wait or so). In Atlanta, the line was outside of the airport- that's how bad it is. Thankfully, Connie and I are back now, ... read more

I am at a stone table at Stone Mountain Park in Atlanta. It is 9am and I am watching Danielle bike back and forth in long sweeps past our campsite. A friend she met (on a bike with equally loud training wheels) came by a few minutes ago and off she went. Jacquelyn finished her book and Ed is walking around with wires hanging out of his ears talking to someone from work. Did I mention that I am required to pay attention enough to wave to Danielle each time she passes me by? It requires a great deal of attention…. Anyway, day 1 came and went in a flourish. Shannon slept over to help me finish up with the house and the RV and most importantly the kids. They had slept over at their best ... read more

So hockey in Atlanta was not at all what going to an NHL game in Canada is like. The music was weird, and the energy was different. I'm not sure how to explain it since the Phillips Arena was pretty full. Not that I'm complaining - it was a big step up from the energy at the Knoxville Ice Bears game! Go Ice Bears! (I'm serious...they are pretty good...and lotsa Canucks). Baseball in Atlanta, on the other hand, was fabulous. Just like a good soccer game in a country that loves soccer. In the US, you can't beat baseball fans. Especially if they are Red Sox fans - Go Red Sox! So, yes, we faced the 4 hours of traffic hell to cheer for the Sox in Turner Field. Of course, they won...I say of course ... read more

Peachtree everything This town should have been called Peachtree, the name springs up everywhere. On my first day I met this guy at Peachtree something or other, who was trying to get me to come to a video shoot for this artist friend of his he was promoting. He had the most amazing brown eyes (I wish I taken a photo now). Needless to say I took the details, his phone number and was like, yeah yeah I’ll come, with no intention of making it, I just wanted to look at his brown eyes some more. Then his friend stepped in and started talking about this 40 yr old women with dreads from west London he use to date, that was until she stopped bring him money and asked him to marry her (Huh!??!?!) anyway this ... read more

Shay here... This is to all those Earthlinkers out there - THANKS ALOT! And that's all I have to say. Okay, maybe I have a little more to say. Yesterday was Kate's last day of work, so I drove into the city and we met up with some friends for a little send-off party. Five hours, eight Jack&Cokes, and two Tequila shots later, I'm driving one very drunk Kate home as she decides that Bleu Cheese Burger really doesn't want to be in her stomach and would much rather be decorating I-75 Southbound. So if any of you were driving on the highway around 10:00 p.m. last night and got a little surprise on your windshield....it's your own fault! It's a good thing I was able to get some water and ibuprofen down her throat when ... read more

Boy, they ain´t kidding about the southern hospitality thang. Three days in Atlanta Georgia, kicked off with me checking out of customs around 10pm. I’d looked up a hotel/ motel on the internet called the ´Days Inn´ but hadn’t booked anything, ´kel surprise´. A little bit worried as after rescheduling my flight itinerary with the most helpful Delta Airways staff down a phone at the check in desk, it was more like midnight. Note: Delta Staff in the Caribbean (in this case Barbados) really need to take a leaf out of the American Delta staff’s book. I heard a radio programme in Grenada telling the staff at the airport that it costs nothing to smile, the sulk coming from them is stifling sometimes. It’s not like I need to hear, ´have a nice day´, all ... read more
