I had hoped to have pages of beautiful photos from my trip to Atlanta, Washington and New York. Alas though, some bastard stole my bag and in that bag was my camera. And my passport. And lots of other good things.... but don't get me started. Bag theft aside it was a really good trip. The work thing I went over for was fun, the weather was good, met some great people. The museums that make up the Smithsonian Institute in Washington were a geek's paradise - so I was amused for days. And in New York I got to catch up with my friends Alex, Frank and Jason (in between running between the Lend Lease office and the Australian Consulate) which was really cool. I have been devoid of photos for a while now which ... read more

We drove for most of the day today. First, we went back down into Mississippi and drove through Tupelo (the humble birthplace of Elvis). Next, we crossed into Alabama where we stopped for ribs at "Dreamland" near Tuscaloosa and then travelled on through Birmingham. Finally, we crossed into Georgia where we put our watches forward to join Eastern Time and arrived late in Atlanta. Everyone was tired so we agreed to put our explorations off until the next morning... On Thursday morning, we went for a tour of the CNN headquarters building and saw live broadcasts taking place. Afterwards we explored the "underground' part of the city, briefly popped in to the world of Coke (who are based in Atlanta), saw the actor Blair Underwood (from LA Law and Sex in the City) in a mall ... read more

American Civil War was over for more than 150 years, but the spirit behind the history and what it stands for the people here in the south are still alive in Confederate states. Even though Atlanta is considered as a melting pot modern city, it still located in the Deep South; lots of Yankees have moved into the South, Confederates are still lurking around and live by what they believe. Last week, my co-worker Nathan mentioned about the annual civil war re-enactment event in Conyers, GA, where he lives. The event is, of course, a Deep South customed, with no where else in the world this would be done (except maybe in Gettysburg, PA). People are coming from all over the nation, most of them are to become re-enactments, an opportunity to live in history. The ... read more

A day before Halloween - and nothing is happening at our place. True, in a sense that our place becomes deserted and fits the theme of a graveyard of Halloween. Happy with the situation, I finally find some time to compile my past journals in this fabulous travelblog.org. I have been busy with the entries for several days now, when I realized that I haven't have much to say about Atlanta, Georgia, where I live. Work Work is very interesting; a lot of stuff is going on, with many projects and datelines scattered all around us. With 150+ employees, we still need many architects, as Atlanta is building everywhere. disclaimer. you can skip the following paragraph, as I will mention things that probably won't make sense to anyone. Some updates on projects I have been working ... read more
