Yea! Here we go! We stayed at the Hilton at the Marina in Ft. Lauderdale last night... beautiful place, huge yachts all over the place and right across from the Cruise terminal. Look up the yacht, Kismit, Georgetown! WOW is the only word for it and it's docked right here. Caribbean2010

We departed Victoria for Seattle via the Clipper, then spent most of Saturday in the air enroute to Ft. Lauderdale Florida. We board the Emerald Princess Sunday afternoon, and will spend a week in the Eastern Caribbean. Joe has done an awesome job organizing our trip and so far things have gone like clockwork. So far we've been able to take advantage of free wi-fi in the airports and hotels. It won't be quite as accessible on the ship, but we'll find a way to post regular updates while at sea. The weather? The worst part about any trip is packing. The endless lists and checking and rechecking and then checking one more time to make sure you have everything. Finally, the time comes to leave and you think you have everything and more only to find that you left something behind when you arrive. I hope that doesn't happen to me. I want to spend the least amount of money I can on things like a toothbrush that I could have gotten here. All of my clothes are on the dining room table in piles by category. What you look at all day

Nasty night last night. Winds all night about 30 kts over a lot of open water. Kept thinking I was dragging anchor but didn't. Finally got up at 3:30 and started working on the heat exchanger. Finally got the piece if rubber in place and had to join three hose clamps to clamp it off. Got everything back together at dawn. It still leaks a little but it will hold me until I get at least to Miami tomorrow where I will try to order another online. May be about $800.Or if it doesn't leak all that much I'll fix it when I get back next spring. Hit something hard to day. Trying to rush to a bridge. There are 1000 bridges now. Hello All! On November 9, 2009 the five of us set out for our journey at 4:30 am to the Atlantic City airport. Unfortunately AND unexpectedly, as we were checking in (after our boarding passes we issued mind you) we were told that because we did not have proof of out exit from Colombia, we would not be able to board the plane. We tried desperately to book a bus or plan or ANYTHING ticket to prove that we indeed were planning on leaving Colombia some day. Thank you to all of you who picked up your phones at 5 in the mornig to help us try to find a solution!! Sad day - we had to say goodbye - even knowing we will see and talk to each other again, it was sad for us to go our separate ways. Had lots of luggage so decided to rent a car and drive home to Tampa. I was home before I would have arrived by plane. Stephanie followed me to return the rental and we went to dinner. Today it's Thursday, 10/15, and I finally got my wash done, went through a month's worth of mail, and still catching up on email. It's back to reality now.
