Our first day of skiing. We can’t seem to copy our video pictures but we will get some pictures to add tomorrow. The snow here is great and there are very few people so it feel like we have a private ski resort. Kelvin and Vince went out to the Taynton Bowl (back side of the mountain) and had a great time but worked very hard. Vince took a slight tumble and had to crawl back up the mountain in very deep powder to retrieve his skis. Meanwhile Kelvin wrenched his knee a bit so the ice pack is out tonight. Troy was the first one on the hill and skied with abandon all morning; too exhausted to continue in the afternoon. Kurtis and I found a great pack of powder and skied that run all ... read more

Geo: 51.0197, -113.878A few years ago, I decided that the all-inclusive/pampered/luxury holidays were no longer for me. But then I wrecked myself this summer and decided that I could use a relaxing holiday, for a change. It was actually on a ferry to Rome where I decided that. Ahhh ... Rome ... memories of a better time, a better place, and better gelato ... Originally, Tam and I thought about doing a quick backpacking trip through Turkey, Costa Rica, or Belize - but it would have been too rushed given the short amount of time we have off of work. So we decided that a cruise was the best option. My reasons for doing this trip are completely different from the last one - I'm just out to get some sun, have some fun, and to ... read more

Geo: 51.0451, -114.063Tam showed up at my house, where we waited for Rodney to give us a ride to the airport. Rodney dropped off some of Dorianne's Christmas cookies - mmm mmm ... food for the long journey that we had ahead of us! Got to the airport and encountered a huge line-up to check in (almost 1.5 hours). The flight was delayed 2.5 hours so there was tons of re-booking happening. We got screwed - we're going to miss our Phoenix-Las Vegas connection, which will probably cause us to miss our Las Vegas-Miami connection, which means that we will miss the cruise! We could try going on standby on the later Phoenix-Las Vegas flights, but the chances of getting on are almost zero. All those flights are already overbooked. The ticket agent at the US ... read more

There seems to be a large number of things you need to bring to celebrate Christmas away from home. Going to Lloydminster or Park Valley is a lot of work but nothing compared to bringing all of our gifts, ski stuff, food, clothes, Christmas tree, decorations, video equipment etc, etc. Our van was packed so high that once Troy was installed he couldn’t actually get out. However, we made it safely to Panorama by 6 pm and after a great assembly line of unloading we had filled the condo to overflowing. Thankfully the boys are well capable and 5 people can unload everything with amazing efficiency. We brought along a little Christmas tree spent the evening decorating it. Small trees are a lot less work to put together and still give the wonderful Christmas sparkle to ... read more

Les ... read more

It's true!! It's been 8 months.... 4 days ago, the 19th, marked the 8-month mile-stone and to be completely honest I'd have to say that it's been the fastest months of my life. They say London is a busy, fast city... and has its pace ever quickened my experience. Now that I've lived in London for this long I feel like I'm entitled, as part-Londoner, to fill you all in on a few of the perks and pitfalls of this city. Here are my top five raves for London: 1) Night life- With its theatres, pubs and clubs, the first mention on the list is a given. I never run out of places to check out or things to do every night of the week. With so much to offer, dates in London are also easily ... read more

Hey guys, So this is my first entry to get used to this blogging thing - The countdown is on! I leave on December 27th from YVR - fly to LAX - fly to San Salvador (in Central America) and then fly into Lima, Peru. It's going to be a long ass, 2-stop trip! I hope to be able to keep this updated fairly frequently with exciting stories and pictures - you can also check out Callie's Blog (she's my travelling buddy for the first 3 months) - she had this brilliant "blogging instead of mass emails" idea - so here we go!!! Please shoot me off emails, well wishes, updates, everything! I'm going to miss you all so so much! Lots of Love, Besos, Lauren... read more

Well my loyal followers, my biggest apologise for not gettin these shots up earlier but Whistler is an expensive place and my time is a little limited. Most of my spare time is taken up with snow boarding, sleeping or going to the local bars with my new crew of mates. There a little bit crazy but i fit right in and they are more than accepting of my bizarre way of life. I live in Staff housing which is a bit like halls or residence and i share my flat with two girls, Vanessa from Vancouver and Angela from Brisbane its not too bad at all and i get on with them great. It wouldn't matter if i didnt though cause Whistler is the most amazing touristy place i've ever been. Theres a surprisingly strong ... read more

I received my official letter of employment this morning, to get me through customs and onto the ship. My flight details are sorted out. First thing on Boxing Day, so early it'll likely still be dark out, I'll be taking off from Toronto, to Detroit, to Fort Lauderdale. It's really happening! Having these extra days at home is nice, more time to see people and I feel like I'm having more time to adjust after all of the theatre craziness of the last month. But I keep finding more things to spend money on! The first month or so on board is going to be spent trying to pay off everything I'm buying now! Yesterday, one of my old Lighthouse Theatre Young Company friends, Matt Ruiss, made an incredible realization - his family is taking an ... read more
