Today we left Vancouver and took a plane to Kelowna. As you can see from the pictures it wasnt a particular big plane (stacey doesnt like small propellor planes). Once we got to Kelowna we had to work out how we were going to make it up to Big White, due to the season not starting till the 22nd there wasnt alot of options. After having the nice info lady at the airport call several compaines and people we ended up catching he airport shuttle transport down the road to the nearest supermarket (coopers i think?). We got some shopping done and ordered a taxi to take us up, flat fee but it was still expensive. We got checked into the hostel here and then took a random walk around, not much snow atm but it ... read more

Pouahhhhhh !

Before leaving Vancouver, we had to stock up on essential supplies including all the camping gear and some tunes for the road. Since neither of us spoke it- we got a ‘learn to speak Spanish’ Audio CD to play on the long drive. Hopefully by the time we reach Mexico we can at least order a meal. So Shazza and I hit the road, bound for Kelowna in B.C.'s Okanagan Valley. We got used to each other and sailed along the highway smoothly. We were bound for an area with a reputation as Canada's only desert and the source from a lot of their wine and produce. The dry and hot valley has the power-boater's dream Okanagan Lake running through it and providing a refreshing spot to swim. The dry, brown countryside is broken up with ... read more

Back on the bus, but this one of I was looking forward to. Usually I chew through books like mm's when I am on a bus, or I spend hours listening to the music watching the scenery half dosing the whole time. But this time I was more like a wide-eyed chip monk, watching the Rockies. This particular drive is famous as being one of the most beautiful. It was nothing short of, spectacular, breath taking, beautiful, captivating, fascinating, astonishing, magnificent, intimidating, lovely, amazing, take your pick or all of the above. It was wonderful in that it was constantly changing. The mountains rise and fall, the clouds blanket the mountains in some places, just delicately wrap them in others, or in others completely disappear. The snow simply dusts the very tops of some mountains, ... read more

Wow - I feel like I'm on vacation already....perhaps I didn't need to take over two full weeks off of work prior to leaving? I think this time is just giving me more opportunity to over think things and scare myself - and no, for the last time I am NOT watching Tourista or Hostel - thanks for asking! Midnight express was enough, thanks dad...good thing I didn't have any plans on smuggling Hashish out of Turkey! Despite having all of this time off, I managed to be so preoccupied last week what with moving out of the BSMT suite and To Do Lists that I was able to back into my mom's taurus (that will never die) and take out her entire door with my rear tail light, including her window......while leaving my grandparents ... read more

whoa, with the snow melting and weather warming the citizen's of Kelowna have turned their backs on the winter sport of skiing and hauled out their golf clubs for a long summer season. Buds are budding, bees are buzzing, birds are chirping and Instead of golf clubs I've opted for my mountain bike and climbing shoes (next stop bathing suit!), and have been exploring the huge Okanagan Mountain Park and the Kettle Valley. The Kelowna Crags are an excellent climbing area. Work is still going well, I move out of the motel (tear) this week, and into an apartment building RIGHT beside the most popular beach in the city. I plan on furnishing my apartment for under $100.00 which is totally doable. Windsurfing, volleyball, kiteboarding, wakeboarding, and lunch-time dips in the lake are what I'm ... read more
