righto, so what's been going on... well, mostly we go to bed late (2am ish) and sleep in late (12pm ish), although we're trying desperately to break that habit! Basically there's too much to remember and talk about, so i'll let the photos do the talking!... read more

Have just got back from a great three day road trip to Calgary to see the Cat Empire! After hearing they were playing in Calgary I decided I had to introduce Linds to a top aussie band and she loved them, so we planned a road trip with another Aussie couple that work in the dining room with us. We hired a car on Tuesday and drove just over an hour out of Banff to Calgary - the great sprawling city. The drive out to Calgary, once we got out of Banff and past Canmore, reminded me a lot of driving down south at home. The land opens up into rolling hills and farmland and the weather was a bit overcast and raining so for a little while it made me wish I was driving down ... read more

The Cat Empire Wednesday night we headed to the Warehouse in downtown Calgary for the concert. The Cat Empire are doing a 'world tour' and launching their Two Shoes CD. I couldnt pass up the opportunity to see them in Canada after seeing them at Federation Square, Melbourne for New Years Eve 2005 and in Perth at Belvoir this summer. So a third time in Calgary couldnt be missed! And they were fantastic! The place was packed and they played for almost 2 hours so it was a great concert ... so good we all had to buy the t-shirts! At the end of the night Lindsay and I navigated the streets home with more detours and made it back to the trailer. Thursday we headed out to some vintage/second hand stores in town to do ... read more

On Friday we went out to this local bar/club called "The Back Alley". It was totally cool! We had an awesome time and danced our arses off! Drinks were on "happy hour" when we got there, but it was still $3 a beer and god knows what for spirits and stuff. When happy hour finished at 10 beers went up to $6! At midnight they played the opening scene to the Jackass movie, and when debris shot out on the movie the staff threw serviettes onto the dance floor crowd. It looked AWESOME! The club was MASSIVE, and the DJ was so freakin funny, every now and then he'd stop the music and demand "everyone with a penis" get off the speakers and dance on the floor so only chicks were up there... and wouldnt start ... read more

Woke at 5am (again!), quickly packed and walked down to "Grand Pacific Station" to catch the bus at 6:30am. Not many people got on, so we each got a seat to ourselves to spread out on. A few stops, and we got out to get some TIM HORTONS!!!! Bought 60 timbits between us! Driving through the rockeys was absolutely gorgeous! Took some photos, bit dodgy cos they were out the bus windows. Lots of stops, every few hours, had the worst ever hotdog and 15 or so hours later we arrived in Calgary (at 10:45pm)! Lora (my host from when we were in Calgary in 2004) and her sister Kari and Kari's boyfriend Ryan met us there and took us back to the new house. The family moved to the city not too long ago into ... read more

So, it's friday night and Shelagh and I are sitting home fighting over how much we both don't know about travelblog sites. We figured we'd better do a trial run now since it might take us two weeks, and multiple emails to the help desk to get it all sorted out. ... read more

Yep, this is the last time I will be updating my cricket progress because I am making none! Ab Moore Ct Sneaky Keeper LEAVING a ball outside off stump for 8... Don't leave the ball and get caught behind you idiot. Changing to plan II (The Huss-enator approach) which involves the aerial route straight back over the bowlers head, having seen some of the catching I will back myself! Cavs are 0 and 2 despite being a better team, check out the link if interested... http://www.sportstatz.com/ss/linkreport.asp?club=233&mode=100&match=650 http://www.sportstatz.com/ss/linkreport.asp?club=233&mode=100&match=652 Anyway, have taken up Cup stacking, which I purchased at the HPE conference I attended a couple of weeks ago. So addictive, got my 3-6-3 stack time down to 5.56 secs, Very exciting! Hit a local mexican restaurant on the weekend for one of the guys suprise birthday party, ... read more

Yep, Moore Ct WK bowled some tricky bloody left arm quick Indian dude for 5. Now relying on injuring one of my fellow teammates in the "Grid" to maintain a position in the team. Reckon pushing one of the older blokes to exhaustion might create 1 or 2 soft tissue injuries... The Cavs were rolled for just 120 in 40 overs in our opening match of the year. A lively pitch against a pretty good bowling attack had us in trouble early. This tricky bloody Indian swung half a dozen in and then suckered me with the seamer going the other way. Shit. We then snatched defeat from the jaws of victory after the opposition were 8 for 59 in reply. "Rocket Smith's" indian twin played and missed at approx 40 balls*, but managed to keep ... read more

Oh MY God...this has started off as the worst trip ever! This is even worse than when I was quantined in Vancouver after my flight from Tokyo. Have had my first experience with lost luggage, and the terror that it brings on. I mean, to be fair, I shouldn't really have been too concerned, because everything that I really needed was in Rannoch and Karen's anyway, but still...how hard is it to look for luggage? And what's with the driver telling me that "It's not my problem!" and just driving off?? Umm...excuse me??? YOU have lost MY luggage, but it's not YOUR problem? Well just whose problem is it then? Not impressed with Greyhound just now, that's for sure!!! And where was Sarah?!?! Supposed to have a breakfast date with her, and she never showed! She ... read more
