Hello !! It's been a while since my last Entry. Sorry about that. Well, we finally left Banff yesterday and are now in Calgary. We stay here one more night, then Shannon and I fly to Montreal tommorrow arvie. Can't wait ! Banff was a real blast ! I loved it so much, but I spent abit of money there though, just partying and having a great time. We got to know alot of the locals and we hung out with them heaps having a few beers and we even had a few awesome BBQ's with em'. The last two weeks in Banff were the best because Shannon finished working and the weather was so unreal, so nice and sunny ! We spent alot of time just chilling out in the park sunbaking and listening to ... read more

Hello! Thanks for the emails, yes I have arrived and have settled in already. Flight was good from home to LA, stopped off in Auckland for some fush and chups, watched a few movies (go the penguins!) and read a bit, went pretty quick really. Customs at LA was full on and the airport in massive, but got to my hotel pretty easy. Spent the two days just lazing around in the sun by the pool & in the gym. LA has a bit of a funny smell to it, it took a good 10 minutes to fly over the city it is just enormous, and packed in so tight, didn't see to many backyards... Hit the plane to Calgary on Tuesday morning (feeling particularly crap after staring at the ceiling all night) and made a ... read more

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!! Well it’s my last night in Calgary and the last 3 days have been great. I really want to thank everyone that came out, it was great to see you all before I left! It meant the world to me to see you all out. Those of you that didn’t come out, I’m sure you had your reasons. First night out at Ranchmans was a blast! The 2nd night at Cowboys was a little rough to get started but once the beer started flowing it got crazy from there. What was supposed to be a nice night relaxing and catching up on everything turned into another 4am Denny’s run with my most hated acquaintance ever, you know who you are!! Lucky she’s cute or things could have gotten ugly ;-) Today has been ... read more

pics will be there soon! Finally the day my roommate has been telling me about since forever had come.. Bermuda Shorts Day! BSD is huge, that was already clear to me. Besides the wristband for the beer garden I even had to get a wristband to be allowed to get into my building, since they didn’t want any people who don’t live there in residence, to prevent to many crazy parties in rez (which of course doesn’t help at all J) BSD is officially the last day of class, but since part of the campus is transformed into a huge beer garden, as you can imagine not that many people actually go to class J. My day started at 9 with a (free, so as a real Dutch girl I had to be there of course..) ... read more

I arrived off the lovely Greyhound experience from Kelowna at 6am. Dealing with a time zone change, in addition to daylight savings caused a brain confusion that I hadn't planned on for my start in Alberta. I chowed down on some breakfast before venturing off to the hostel in town, and planning my time in Calgary. I hid in the hostel with a book in hand trying to sort out some computer issues, before sailing off into the streets. The sky was blue, the air was crisp and cool, why hadn't I explored earlier? The hostel was cozy on the inside, but the surrounding area was certainly less desirable. Needle disposal bins clung to signposts on the corners, so I crossed the C-train tracks and headed towards the most notable tourist attraction in town, the Calgary ... read more

Europe goes crazy about soccer, Canada however is more into HOCKEY! As mentioned before, I must admit I can't help loving that sport either.. So after a Dino's and a Hitmen game it was time for the real thing.. The Flames!!! As the third largest city in Canada (after Montreal and Toronto), Calgary ofcourse must have a decent hockey team, and they do, the Calgary Flames are doing pretty good, 3rd in their league at the moment. Therefore, one of the things I had to do before leaving Calgary was to visit the Flames. During a group meeting Norbert, another Dutch guy mentioned they had bought tickets online for a game the next day, and there might be some left. Although the ordering was challenging ;) (you had to fill in all the information within 3 ... read more

Well here I am getting ready for the trip. I'm just testing this thing out now to make sure that it works before I go over because if it doesn't that would require some last minute playing around. I've almost finished all my shopping and by the end of this week I will have my pack all ready to go. The passports still haven’t come in yet and I just found out that my bus ticket was reserved for a Glynn Jones with the wrong first name and also that for some reason they think I’m a female so needless to say I’m going to need to get that fixed up pretty quick first. Also my Visa expires when I am over in Europe and that thing is going to come in pretty handy so I'm ... read more

Only 4 days left until departure. Days are flying by, seems that there are so many last minute things to do! At the gym this morning (Kirsten can attest to this), my scrambled thoughts are coming out in rather humorous sentences... something about the fact that I would never trust anyone to tint my lows and brashes... lol. This is a good indication of where my head is at right now. Excited - absolutely! the last time I left the continent it was 1993. I am looking forward to a world entirely different from what I am used to, the experiences that I am going to have, and the change in perception that undoubtedly I will experience. S.... read more

EEEEEEKKKK.... 17 days left! Seems like the less # of days, the bigger the list, the less sleep, the more giggles.Jenn, how is your list looking?Just booked our accommodation - destination Koh Phangang. (after Bangkok and an 8 hour train ride to Surat Thani. The beach is called Koh Tao(supposedly one of the most amazing beaches in the world, renowned for the sunsets). Our shack is beachfront, (i can already here the ocean); pimped out with 1 double bed (Jenn and I don’t mind sharing) but at least we have aircon (bonus). This cozy spot is far enough away from the madness of Hadrin beach (south side) - so we will have time to recoup. Hadrin is where we will we will grace the full moon party with our presence on April 13 - also Thai ... read more
