Even een korte terugblik op mijn eerste dag in Calgary... De dag begon heel voorspoedig. Ik kon gelijk in mijn kamer, waar ik één van mijn huisgenootjes ontmoette, een heel aardig meisje. Ik heb een eigen slaapkamer en deel de huiskamer, keuken, en twee badkamers met drie (Canadese) huisgenootjes. Ik heb geprobeerd zo veel mogelijk in 1 dag te regelen, en dat lukte allemaal eigenlijk wel heel prima. Mijn student-id kaart gehaald, mijn U-pass (soort OV-kaart), internet geregeld, boodschappen gedaan, me een beetje op de campus georiënteerd.. Het weer was prima, zeker voor de tijd van het jaar, lekker zonnetje.. En iedereen op de universiteit is super aardig en behulpzaam. De campus is groot, maar te overzien. Aren't I unpleasantly surprised to see the weather has turned for the worst, and it's -20°C out here. I guess considering the weather that I have seen in Spain, France and Germany, it's not too much of a shock. Let's see, I wandered around Frankfurt for a couple hours getting on trains with directions Hauptewachte and that type of thing... It was kind of freaky walking around and not knowing hardly any German except for Gudentag and Danke but I managed to buy some chocolates and weird euro shoes and I was on my way home. It's time once again for Ms. High MAI-tenance and her hubby to shake off the lull of Yuppieville, pull out the trusty 39L MEC packs and live the leisurely lives of backpackers for 3 weeks. Our destination this time: Egypt. As usual, we have no set itinerary and we'll just see day to day where we end up! Shane and I were fancying heading over to Jordan for a few days to see Petra and Wadi Rum... I think Jordan's borders are open again after the recent bombings in Amman (very tragic).
