Fiona and I vacated the flat on Friday. We then met up with James in Sheffield to get our brief introduction to the North of England. I visited York a few years ago, staying with a host family for Christmas in 2001, but I have yet to have a proper visit to other cities in Yorkshire. We took a day trip to Bradford and saw the university sites from where James attended undegrad. We walked around the city and took in the sites which included old textile mills, mosques, and delectable Asian sweet shops. As you would expect in Bradford, we stopped for curry. We also viewed a film at the Imax Cinema on ancient Egypt. We popped over to Leeds, a city which boasts a massive university and a robust banking industry. On Sunday we ... read more

Right, well this will be the last time (for a while) that I'll be able to post photos on my blog as my camera got stolen last night at the Em Dee gig. shmeh. Shit happens. HOWEVER, the gig was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! Although it may be hard to imagine, I danced harder than I ever have before (had a dance-off with Lukas too- he seems to have just as much energy as I do!) I also saw and said g'day to the Panda Band- a band from Perth who know a mate of mine, Jeff Strong- and I told them to say g'day to him as I drank my Little Creatures Pale Ale. :) I tell you what! It was the most Australian night I've had in ages! And I loved it! :) That was because ... read more

Sunday....what a bum around day. I went down to Nottingham city centre with Ruth, Jana, and Alex. It was a pretty good trip. I really like hanging out with Jana and Ruth. They're really down to earth and fun to be around. Plus Jana has been my dance partner had the clubs which I totally appreciate. In the city centre we were on the lookout for a few things: I needed to get a mobile phone so that I can communicate with everyone and Ruth needed a wok and a white t-shirt plus supplies for her architecture class on Monday. Alex was meeting two of her friends, James and Tim, for lunch. However it ended up that all of us went to lunch at Dogma but we weren't really introduced to the guys, which was slightly ... read more

Growing up in Australia, Stonehenge seemed so far away. I had wanted to go there for such a long time, so it was a pretty special day. It's a shame you are not allowed to touch the stones, but a great experience nonetheless. Apparently the Druids had nothing to do with Stonehenge. Whenever I think of Druids the image of Getafix from Asterix & Obelix pops into my head. Why am I telling you this? I have no idea. Salisbury Cathedral is nearby, so I stopped off to have a look there as well.... read more

Last night Mitch and I had our first impromtu house party. Officially it was in honor of our room mate Uri's 30th birthday (we even had chocolate cake). But Uri was in London, and no one in attendance knew Uri. Innocence often fades away with the consumption of alcohol. I discovered this last night when Mitch and I went clubbing with our normally shy house mates and their friends. Thankfully Mitch and I were sober, and though I did the chest dance and poured cups of sweat, I managed to spend yet another night in my cold bed alone. Today, the Lords day; time for rest, relaxation, reflection and a professional rugby game. The Leeds Tykes stadium is 2 blocks from our house and the Powergren Cup game is on. Yesterday Mitch and I attempted another ... read more

Well, one entire stormy day driving back to London. I give us a C+ on finding the hotel, again the streets changing names, excuses, excuses. Their one and only parking place has been promised to us as long as we are here and thankfully someone helps Buff park. Next day we see a Smart car, whose owner is very anxious to show it off to us. Pretty cool and roomier on the inside than you would think. We really only plan to take the car out the one day to Windsor Castle. After that we will Tube or walk everywhere until we drive one last time to the Airport. I could see the relief on Buff's face when we came "home" this day that he would not have to drive anymore. (We've got the route to ... read more

Hello Again, I hope you all are doing well? Yesterday afternoon was amazing. A couple of my friends and I when walking through a large public meadow called ‘Port Meadow’ to a country pub called ‘The Trout Inn’. I was a beautiful day! We strolled along the Thames, which is called the Isis in Oxford, and there are horses that graze freely in meadow that we petted. Then on the way back from having dinner at the pub there was an amazing sun set. I was a bit worried about not being able to go out into nature much while I was here, but this meadow is a 2 minute walk from my flat. I will be going there as often as possible. Last night I also went to a performance of Hamlet at the Oxford ... read more

I've decided to move into IKEA. I think it's the best decision I've made in quite some time. Really. I mean it. I want to live at IKEA. More about why later.... Yesterday, I moved house on the bus. The 191 is usually quite tempermental but all six of my journeys on the bus were timely! I was so impressed. Granted, the bus drivers kept giving me looks like I was nuts, but then as most of you are already aware, I kind of am. The same driver kept picking me up at my old flat but different drivers brought be back after I'd dropped a load of stuff at the new place. I think the driver was starting to experience "driver deja vu" each time he saw me. Whatever...at least I'm done with it now. ... read more
