Over the weekend i went on a little trip down to Bath with Davina and Michele who i used to work with. On the way down we stopped at Stonehenge which was breathtaking. That might have been because it was absolutely bloody freezing but was nice to look at as well. We got to Bath and wandered around for a bit. It's a beautiful city with lovely architecture and great character. We strolled around the Roman Baths and then on to the Pump Room which was very grand. Now when i read my hysterical, sorry historical, romances I can picture just what it looks like. The next day we relaxed in the thermae Bath Spas which was bliss, they had a spa, aromatherapy steam rooms and a roof top pool which was a bit chilly to ... read more

A well over-due update! Canada? Nope... Not for now anyway. I'm living in Bath and renting an apartment, to most of you - and to my own surprise - I must admit that I am actually starting to enjoy my time in England for the first time ever!! The way it all happened was quite strange - the Universe was playing at something so I decided to change my plans and take a shot at playing the cards i had just been dealt... Y not?!? A few lovely visits from some great friends and extra time with the family are just what the doctor ordered. I'm making the most of my time here getting to know this country (which embarrassingly I must admit as an english person, it's amazing how little I do know about it ... read more

We were relieved that we had decided not to set off on Tuesday with British Airways in view of the radiation scare. We have opted to go Quantas, maybe in the mistaken belief that they are a better airline anyway. The last time we went long haul on British Airways, we were not too happy. At the moment we are racking our brains on what are the best things to take to wear. Not having done a cruise before we are sure to take all the wrong things, but we will cram the suitcase with as much as we can get in, just in case. As we didn't bother doing too much research when we booked, we were completely unaware that we would be doing this cruise in the middle of the monsoon season, so perhaps ... read more

Hi all, Ok, so the cryptic title all relates to the fact that we are in Bath! He He! Anyway, back to where I was up to. Edinburgh. We left Edinburgh the following day, and caught a train to Newcastle. Doesn't take very long, so not too worried. I had tried to book accommodation there previously, but nothing was very applicable, or was booked out, so we decided to wait and go to the tourist agency when we got there. So we did just that. And it is seriously the hardest tourist agency to find. We got quite lost, and ended up asking about 4 different locals directions, after walking up and down this stupid hill with our packs on. Very annoying. So finally got to the tourist agency, and discovered why we had been having ... read more

Just spent a few days in Bath, a very gorgeous city that you can never tire of wandering around - even though it was freezing cold and rained most of the time! Thought I would share the few images I took for those who like it also and who might yet go....... read more

that a weekend away in the country makes food taste better and sleep sounder (apologies JA). I promise that will be the only Jane Austen reference - I spent the weekend with some Austen haters so the trip was remarkably Austen free). As you may be able to guess, I spent the recent weekend in Bath. The trip was organised in honour of Hilly’s 30th birthday and 15 of us descended on ‘The Residence’ for the celebrations. We had the entire place to ourselves, which was fabulous. Although the purpose of the weekend was to hang out with the birthday boy, we did manage to check out some of the sights of the city of Bath,: notably the Avon River (which, although spanned by the lovely Pulteney Bridge - which has these cool shops along its ... read more

On the weekend I went on a day tour to Stonehenge and Bath with Rachel (cousin). The day started off brilliantly with the tube not running into central london where the pick up point was (due to engineering works). We took another tube line to try and get around the problem. Our tour was leaving at 8:30am and at 8:20am the tube stopped...we waited....and waited...then the driver announced that there was a train stuck at a station further up and all trains on the line westbound werent allowed to move!! hmmmmm looks like we are going to miss the bus.. so i called the tour companies number and told them the problem. Luckily the bus was making another stop at 9am for the last pick up and that was only a couple of stops away on ... read more

Gifted with the natural springs, Bath is an ancient city where Roman set their spa in the centre of City for relligous worshipping and bathing. Today, Bath still perserves the original Roman streetscapes and architectures. Roman Bath and Bath Abbey are the places worth visiting. Bath is a small yet unique township I have ever been. In the weekends, you will find the street full of artists performing mimes, music as well as acrobatics. Hawkers are hurling and showcasing their collections. Soaked in this lively and vivid atmoshpere, you will even totally forget who you are and you will definitely find this place lovely. ... read more

Well, no more pommie washes (I'm told thats extremely offensive and Aussies should no longer call the brits poms, let alone stinky ones....oh well, they should know by now that us Aussies use insults as a sign of endearment!) So last weekend we headed off to the town of Bath, a couple of hours north of London. For those of you interested in a bit of history, Bath is a world heritage listed town, and is built in the mouth of an extinct volcano, which is why it has 'hot springs' under the city! The original roman baths still exist and have done so since AD 943. Its also built on the river Avon, and has the only other bridge in the world (apart from in Florence) that has shops built on either side of the ... read more
