.....Thought I'd post the first of our notes to everyone as I've just set this thing up. It looks awesome, Janice and I are going to use this space to keep the lovely people who care updated on how we are doing. You should get regular updates from us and if you subscribe (no it doesn't cost anything) then you will receive an email everytime we update so that you know if it's worth checking the site. Janice and I will post together/alternately so that you get some respite from my incessant drivel and Janice's (somewhat) 'flowery' view of the world! We really hope you all like it and we'll miss you guys a lot whilst we're away. Peace and Love. Adam and Janice.... read more

Well, last thursday Alex, Myself, my sister and Rupert (her b/f) went to a town called bath. It was about an hour on the train. It was a really nice area. The only real attraction was the roman baths that still stand there. We got some really nice pics of it. But the way it work was really quite amazing. It has been there for something like over a thousand years. It wasn't thought to be much at all until they were about to build a subdivision over the site, and they uncovered the main bath area. So they drained it and found that the bottom was made of pure lead. They then relized what they had really uncovered. Back in the day it was thought to be a religious area and the baths were ... read more

Another test entry really, as I want to see how easy it is to load photos onto this site. Spent St Patrick's weekend in Bristol with my mum, and we visited Bath on the Friday. A gorgeous city, and I would happily go back. A few photos of the Abbey (hopefully) attached.... read more

Tis the day before I leave. Half of me is going WOOOOHOOOOO, and the other is going ARRRRRRGH. A third part is quietly going 'Where is your passport? Is your ticket on its way?'. I call this part 'the internal mother'. I hope like sweet buggery it protects me on my travels. For now, that is all.... read more

Hi! So this definitely did not come out on Sunday, but again, I had a midterm today, and I have a 10 page research paper due next Monday, that I had yet to start. So, it's Tuesday evening and I am finally getting around to this. This weekend was a school trip to Oxford, Bath, and Stonehenge. We left on Friday to go to Oxford which I guess is like the Harvard of England. However, I found couple things that could explain that they are not nearly as smart as they say they are. :) It was fun to see this college town, but it was a lot like Cambridge, so I wasn't nearly as entertained. However, it was brought to our attention that A couple of scenes from the Harry Potter movies were filmed here, ... read more

As i write this, i am back home in Frome counting down the hours until departure for Costa Rica. If all goes to plan Ed will be waiting for me at San Jose airport in exactly 100 hours. Actually i haven't accounted for the time difference but there really is no need. Anyway this is the (fairly pointless) first of many posts. I hope to pass on some of the classic tales and dodgy situations we will no doubt find ourselves in over the next 4 months. I think it's easy enough to put loads of photos up on the blog as well, so it's better than filling up your email inboxes. There's also a thing so that I can put some of you as 'subscribers' to my writings, and then you get an email whenever ... read more

Sorry we haven't posted anything for a couple of days. We don't have access to a computer where we're staying. We arrived in Bath yesterday, taking the train from Paddington station to Bath Spa station. It's absolutely beautiful here. I can't even explain it. It's enchanting. Derek and I really like it here. We're joking about moving here... haha. We went out for some drinks last night, we got to wander around Bath in the evening. It's really nice here. A little chilly (not -30 mind you!!) and damp. Had to sleep in Derek's mummy bag last night cause I couldn't warm up. Anyways, had a good sleep, woke up, ate breakfast and headed off for a walk. Walked along the canal. WOW.... Lush greens. Ivy everywhere. I took a bunch of pictures so as soon ... read more

Legend has it that once a year the British had their bath. Perhaps though, this legend has been confused with the town of Bath. Once a year the British visited Bath? Well, it has been more than a couple of years for me, so I thought a visit to Bath was in order. A couple of our friends were visiting from New Zealand, so we decided to make it a weekend outing, all five of us. Five? Yes, their six month old was also travelling with them. Blessfully, the drive to Bath was uneventful and the traffic was bumper to bumper (which is the British equivalent of flowing freely), so we made excellent time and were soon outside our hotel. We had been promised that there was off street parking - and there was, in the ... read more

Bath is a heritage listed town approximately 100miles outside of London. Once again, we were very lucky to have absolutely magnificent weather. Our first port of call was organising the open top bus tour of Bath - this gave us a bit of history about the town and allowed us to find our bearings and work out where else we wanted to visit throughout the day. Bath reached its peak during the Georgian era between 1714 and 1837. It became an extremely popular destination for the rich and privileged who came to take in the healing properties of Baths spa healing ... read more
