Yo ................ so our friend Sas from Andorra paid us a surprise visit last week ......... then invited us down to Bath for the weekend. This was wicked as Me and Big Russ had been keen to get down there for a while and Sas is cool so it was on. After a few beers and a funny train ride we arrived in Bath which is one seriously old skool Roman town with heaps of young people and a cool as vibe. That meant an awesome night out on the town with Sas and her friends. We arrived home at the early hours of the morning to Sas's Mum and Ash's girlfriend who had waited up for us ........ classic ........ and cooked us a tasty feed ...... yeeeeah. Then after another awesome feed for Brunch ... read more

Left London and travelled through the rural English countryside. Green are the fields and lovely were the thatched cottages. Settled in the Roman spa town of Bath. The Roman bath museum was a bit boring so toured it rather quickly. The walk through Bath itself was nice. The georgian architecture is beautiful. Alot of the shops had job signs posted in their windows. Really liked this city and could easily live and work here. One of my favorite nights mostly because I met some great girls and ate dinner along the river for about 3 hours before settling in the pubs for the night. I tend to love the city that much more when I have nights like these. Besides... Johnny and Robbie both have homes here. Enough said huh? FYI-Had my first Snakebite, a thirst ... read more

Therese organised for us to take a day trip to Stonehenge & Bath today - a rather long journey on a full bus (4 hours), especially after we were the last ones to be pick up and we got stuck in the non-adjustable and crappy seats at the back! Stonehenge was interesting - especially given it was cold and wet - this just added to the aura of the place, but the 45 minutes spent there was probably about 30 minutes too long - there really isn’t that much to see or do, and you can’t get close to the stones as they are fenced off. The weather improved dramatically between Stonehenge and Bath - it was just absolutely fantastic. The old Roman baths were amazing. The architecture was special. Had my first “Cornish Pastie” since ... read more

Went to Bath over the weekend. It's a city here in the southwest UK that is home to the only natural hot springs in the country. It is a huge tourist site and a beautiful city, tucked away in the rolling green English countryside. So over time this city has been a sacred place to worship and pray. The Romans turned it into a place to also enjoy the hot springs and relax. You can tour the great baths; you can visit the museum about the baths; you can roam all over the city, that is geared towards selling these baths; you can even drink the spring water (for a cost); but can you go into the baths? NO. In fact, there is only one place in the whole city or surrounding area that is supposed ... read more

Well, I'm packed and ready to go - tomorrow morning will see me on a bus, train, coach and aeroplane. There's some trepidation in my mind, where am I going, will I be understood etc, and a major headache about how I'm going to shop in a region where the dominance of English is reputedly waning. My packing has been somewhat haphazard - the first attempt was neat and tidy but left all manner of random items for my hand baggage like shoes and toothbrush. Male pride said I wanted to have a small bag and 'travel light'. When I zipped the (small) bag up and saw it bulging from every corner, my concern for its integrity was overshadowed by the future need for more bag space, if I'm going to buy a suit while I'm ... read more

This past weekend I went to Bath, Bristow, and Chepstow. Bath is a beautiful city; there is so much amazing architecture, and the town itself, though very touristy, has so much history and is so much fun. I took a walking tour and saw many of the important parts of Bath, and I also toured the Roman Baths, which, though very cool, got boring becuase the tour lasted over an hour! Therre was also a lot of shopping I wanted to do, but I smarty kept my pocketbook closed. I also went to Bristol, which used to be a major port city in England, though nowadays the port has moved further down the river. It's very large compared to Bath, and it has more life in it because it doubles as a university town. We went ... read more

BRIGHT and Early!!! Up and at 'em!!! We had to leave Metrogate by 800a. to go to Stonehenge and then onto Bath. Well, took a coach (bus) and got to Stonehenge at about 10 am or so! However, it was bitterly cold outside. And it was a piercing cold, because it was wet and very windy and it went right through all my clothes! It was not fun, but I got to see those odd stones arranged in a circle! It is kind of funny, because they really have no clue who put them there, why they did and how they did it, but the tour guide kept trying to explain what the experts think. However, even though she spoke with suck authority and obviously knows more about the subject than I, we still don't really ... read more

Well I have no idea if I have set up this Blog correctly so this is a bit of a dummy run to see if it works. This sees the end of a weekend of partying. Friday night at the local was a fab leaving do from work. Thanks to everyone who came along and made it an excellent night, but special thanks to Carmie and Alex for decorating the pub (and me!) and to Lindy Loo for being a fantastic photographer and capturing those embarrassing moments, great photies as usual! More booze and boogying followed on Saturday night in Bath. Needless to say no packing has been done this weekend, meaning I still have shed loads to do, but very little energy to do it! Anyway, enough of the boring waffle. Hopefully if this entry ... read more

Today was probably one of the best days we've had out here thus far. We went to the Roman Baths and got a tour around the city in one of those red double decker buses that just scream "I'm a tourist!". The tour guide was great becaus he was just had just the right amount of "tour guide humor" without making the jokes overkill and without being dreadfully boring. He showed us all around the city to where the oldest hospital was, where Jane Austen lived, and where Queen Victoria Park was... then he told us that the phrase, "Saved by the Bell" originated when during the plague people would be burried alive because they had fallen into a colma so when they would wake up they would ring a bell that they had with them ... read more
