Hello Stranger! So it's been a while since I blogged. Probably even left some pictures from Egypt un-published. But I guess that makes it more interesting. It's been a whole 9 months+ since I moved to England; that means a baby has been made and born since I left Canada. That's a long time. What have I been up to? Well since Egypt, nothing much. Just saving up, and enjoying London really. I have a couple of friends coming to visit me in London so I'll be playing a tour-guide. Should be exciting. To prepare for that I took advantage of the sunny weekend we just had, and with my camera in tow, took some photos. Here they are. Enjoy!... read more

Yesterday it was raining, so we didn't accomplish nearly as much as we did the previous days. In the morning/afternoon we had a traditional English breakfast, consisting of a fried egg, toast, bacon, a sausage, beans, and blood pudding (weird!) When we were finished it was still raining so we went into the London Aquarium and saw lots of sharks. After, we went in the London Eye, which is a huge ferris wheel (150 metres) where you stand in these glass 'pods' that goes really slow and gives you a panoramic view of London. The weather still hadn't improved so we just headed back to the flat and relaxed until dinner. Dinner was an amazing experience! We went to Gerald's gentlemen's club and had dinner in the fine dining restaurant, which looked like a museum/palace inside. ... read more

Day 3 Well, with what seemed to be the last 'fine' day we decided to venture down by the river and check out the sites (BOB's) - London Tower / Tower Bridge / St Pauls etc etc. A hell of a lot of walking and we paid for it by the end of the day...but worth it! The weather turned (or the wind at least) and we found ourselves seeking refuge in a pub A: To escape the wind and B: To rest the feet. With all the walking you have to keep up your fluid intake and we were in a pub! Now, prior to finding our cosy pub, Julie was seeking "refuge" in shops - seeking the warmth was her excuse, yet she departed these establishments with nothing but rosy cheeks so we'll grant ... read more

Today consisted of a whole lot of walking! In the morning we walked to try and catch the 'changing of the guard' ceremony; however, we ended up arriving as soon as it was over, so hopefully we will be able to catch it tomorrow morning! After that we walked to Covent Gardens, which is the young and 'hip' part of London with tons of great stores and an outdoor marketplace, street performers and cafes. We had lunch there and then walked through the Picadilly Circus area, which is considered the 'Times Square' of London and has tons of cool restaurants, theatres bars, and clubs. From there we walked to Bond Street, but first we walked through the Burlington Arcade. The arcades in London are these covered corridors with tons of tiny expensive, upscale shops on either ... read more

Howdy All, What a day (and a half!) commentary currently from Brett (sorry!) Well, after dealing with what become an endless, endless ,endless (you get the point) flight/s we have arrived - previous post confirmed! Today/Yesterday Zombie like, we decided to check out our surrounds, as brain functions were lacking (on my behalf - is all I can explain), we headed for Hyde Park in search of squirrels (we found none). That resolved, Oxford St loomed near and within sight... We trecked up the beaten path which is 'Oxford St' and to my surprise - perhaps amazement, Julie only ventured into a 'couple' of shops...and bought, "nothing"! (jetlag has taken it's toll!) For the record I did buy one shirt on Oxford Street, on sale! Most of the shops have their summer gear in now... We ... read more

After a horrible 7 hour overnight flight on AirTransat, we finally arrived in London yesterday afternoon. We are staying at Gerald's (Josh's family friend) flat in Westminster, downtown London, which is unbelievable because it is so close to everything. The parliament buildings, West Minster Abbey and Buckingham palace are all about 5 minutes away, and we can see right into the windows of Burberry head office, where all the designs are made, right from the living room! Yesterday, the first thing we did was go out for food at this little English pub right around the corner and then walked around central London. For dinner and drinks we went to The Cinnamon Club which is apparently one of the best Indian restaurants in London. They had a martini lounge downstairs in the restaurant where they played ... read more

Howdy all - nothing exciting to report but we thought we'd test the waters with a 'test post'. 33 hours total from our front door to the Hotel in Mayfair Nice, quaint little place in the heart of the West End with plenty of restaurants, pubs and shops on our doorstep. Given our lack of sleep we thought we may just slug this day out and crash when we do. Might go check out the squirrels in Hyde Park and then (I'd say) fifty odd horses which cantered up Piccadilly on our walk to the hotel blowing their bugles (not in tourist mode as yet so the camera didn't make it out in time!) but quite a welcoming site. The photos are not exciting at all but we thought we'd test it anyway.... read more

... read more

Saga continues... We've been in London for a few days now and already have been having some great times and adventures. The boys and I walked from the Bank of England down London bridge along the river and across Tower Bridge. Got to see a lot of great sites and the architecture is absolutely gorgeous. So after tea time and a bit of sight seeing along the river we went home to bargain for cheap dinners along brick lane. Now I don't know how to compare this to anything in America but we simply just walked along the street where there were about 10 or so curry spots. Each one of them had a representative outside who would try and top their competitors deal and we would listen to them and bargain and take the one ... read more
