This was a very pleasant walk, City of London to City of Westminster. Most of it lay south of the river, through areas I hadn't visited before. I arrived at Bank Station at about half past twelve in the afternoon and because of visiting museums and churches along the way it was quite dark before I reached Westminster. Unfortunately I hadn't taken my camera with me so I had to use my iPhone. And even more unfortunately, I took most of the pictures using the Camera Plus app, without realising that I had to save them. So out of the many photos I took, only four were on the iPod when I got home :-) The walk started with a bit of a wander around the Bank area, walking around the Royal Exchange. Then the route ... read more

After another 12 hr bus ride we arrived back in London, this time staying on the other side of the city, just to mix things up. The Astor Hostel has been my favourite hostel to stay at so far. After just arriving we had already made friends with Ivan (Joey) from the Bahamas - one of the nicest guys in the world, is very keen to come to Australia so as to take a Kangaroo back to the Bahamas. That would make him the most popular person there, obviously Pier from France - so so nice, speaks the best English out of all the Frenchies but gets very frustrated when we can't understand him Vincent from France - Courtney fell in love at first sight..... touchie subject. Noumi from France - really nice but doesn't speak ... read more

Day 1 OCT 25. Menu Mac Do: ENORME quarterpounder au bacon! Hamley's c'est génial, plus de cinq étages avec des démonstrations de jouets partout! Les vendeurs chantent des petites chansons : l'un deux chantait "Helicopter, fly so high, in the sky, helicopter, ... read more

My accent is the 'weird' accent at work There are two South African, one Scottish, the rest -- are English, at least as far as I can differentiate; it's okay to group all other UK accents into English, right? I kid. I on the other hand, sound "American", or so they like to joke. The South African accent is SUPER growing on me though. It's beautiful. Video: South African Accent A Bank Holiday has nothing to do with Banks. It's just a day off I am off to Amsterdam this weekend; Saturday, Sunday and back on Monday night. I'm excited. I'm going with Rachelle and a bunch of other people on a group trip! Should be super fun. Look out for photos. ... read more

21 to 24 August 2009 Our tour is quickly coming to an end, and for the final four days we have set the insurmountable task of seeing London with a few side visits to some of the nearby counties. First thing to note, the people, not the variety - the sheer volume of them. While it seems the rest of Europe was on a laid back summer vacation everyone is here and moving all at once. After a few deep breaths we got amongst it - after a nice sleep in at our fabulous accomodation Hotel Rubens at Buckingham Palace. You couldn't type-cast a more 'English' hotel it was great fun and for those of you familiar with the territory, it was across the road from the Royal Mews where the Queen's carriages are kept. Day 5 found us back in the eclectic part of London. I talked Kim into taking a workshop with me ... "psychicness for dummies." I thought perhaps I could elevate myself from being "psychic as a doorknob" into something a little more respectable ... maybe, "she is sorta intuitive." There were 14 of us in the five-hour workshop. Most of us were scared to death. We were going to be thrown right into "how-to-become-psychic" exercises. We had a great time. Met a lot of really nice people: Russians, Italians, Asians, Brits and Americans. Actually, being "psychic" can translate into being observant, watching body language, gut instinct, perception, etc. Useful tool if you have to deal with people! So I made a new friend, Claire. But don't worry, I won't be bringing her home with me! I ... read more

Nice toe! I just noticed it today. I thought I'd get a bruise on my elbow or knee ... but not my toe. Still fighting my cold. Planned on resting the entire day, but Kim and I got flat fever around 2:00 p.m. We walked to the rather eclectic part of London, around the theatre district. Went to a couple of shops and then found a colorful alley with cute shops and eateries. We hung around a bit. Met up with Rich and walked a fairly long way to a bookstore he wanted to check out. When we got there, it had just closed. But the walk was nice and I got a lot of pics. We took the "tube" back towards their flat and ate dinner at their favorite Mexican (yep Mexican) restaurant. It was ... read more

I woke up at 6:00 a.m. with a very sore throat. Tiptoeing around the house, I managed to soothe it with two pieces of Belgium chocolate. Worked like a charm, as long as I was eating! Hung around the bedroom and uploaded the Covent Garden pictures, played a couple of games, and then my laptop flashed a "battery low" warning. In my haste to get to the living room to plug it into the transformer/ converter .... I fell out of Kim's very high guest bed. Clunk. But I still had the laptop in my right hand, held high so as to keep it safe...can't say the same thing for my right knee and left elbow. I'm sure the bruises will appear shortly. And it's only 10:00 a.m. What will the rest of the day be ... read more
