Hi All, Today was fun,  It started with another migrane.  The weather here is so violent, one day clear and beautifull and the next is cloudy and gloom and raining.  But I was out of bed by late afternoon in time to enjoy the concert. See the link below.  Every year they have a concert on the first of May in celebration of Marx, well I do not think a lot of that was going on, but people we sure celebrating the beer makers.  I have never seen so much beer in one place in Italy.  Every where we go wine wine wine, but yesterday was a diffrent crowd.  Myself and Tomei found our way pretty close to the stage, thanks to my hand manouvaring though crowds.  So we had good views for about an hour ... read more

Hi all, Today started out on a not so good foot.  We were late getting to class but we do know where studio will be held from now on and will no longer be late.  In all honesty these streets are not very clear, how many roads do you know that change names from one intersection to the next.  But it is in a very unique side of town.  They call it Traverse, it was a part of Rome where the less desirable people were living. They developed their own kind of architecture and style to this little area and when Roma open their arms to them they put on facades to better blend with other parts of Rome.  But it still has a very unique style, you know when you have entered that part of ... read more

Hi All, Today is raining, or at least it turned that way half way into the day and I did not get much of the urban analysis done but see the note below and you will understand why.  It is hard to work when you classmates stay out drinnking till the weee hours of the morning and sleep till noon - but we are trying to focus on their good qualities - they are keeping the local bars in buisness.  There is a postive side to everything depending on the point of view.  While waiting for my group mates (which I called at 11:30 they returned my call at 1:00 ) So I vered off my urban analysis project start, which was at the Spanish Steps and wondered over to the Rotunda and Areluais Column (I ... read more

Hi all, Well I am in Rome - my home for the next five weeks. Definately homesick and missing everyone!!!! But here is the scoop on what has happened lately - I will post the two weeks of travel later on this week, so much and so many pics to sort through. Well I will address phone card issues. It seems for whatever reason se do not have a phone in our apartment, so whenever I use a phone card at a payphone the service charge eats up 90% of my minutes. So I will have to put that on hold and find another way to call home. But you can always call me I have cell phone. I got it in Genoa. (1010220 is great deal - hint hint hint) But back to my trip. ... read more

Hi all, Today is the first day of classes in Rome, and there is a chill in the air expecially at camp OSU-KSA!!!!  3rd year Campo people are snakes and the 4th year Campo people are seeing this.   3rd year sat by themselves and were sulking while 4th year glared in their direction.   The mixture of who live at the Vatican apartments are the mature of the group and we do not party nearly as much.  But we are getting proficent at card games (Uno being one of them) and weare cooking meals together and basically getting along.  Brain is in denial they he was shafted, so he has not totally moved in yet.  He kinda of is living in the communal living room, which is going to get fixed shortly.  It is never appatizing to watch a kid putting on his pants as you are trying to finish ... read more

I’m backlogging some of my previous travels in Europe from when I was in high school and college. They won’t contain much information as it was a while ago, but I would be more than happy to share my experiences with anyone who has a question. The history of this city is absolutely stunning, like nowhere else I have experienced. For hundreds of years it was the center of the known universe; and I mean that literally as the world was still the center at that time. While it is completely overrun with tourists, it is a must do, in my opinion. It isn’t the easiest for backpackers, as “budget” doesn’t really exist, but it is still worth doing in rapid speed if it is an option. I also had the chance to visit Florence while ... read more

Ai, gente… aqui sao 4 meses que so neva, chove e venta areia do Sahara. “Vai, Kelly, a gente bota fogo nessa italianada”… “Putz! Sobrou!”, pensei, “Nao vai ser legal...” Mas de taaanto que insistiram, resolvi dar uma maozinha. Fiz um flyer bacana: “CARNALABRO 2004, CON MOLTO SAMBA, CAIPIRINHA E ALLEGRIA. PREMIO AL PIÙ BEL COSTUME! ENTRATA GRATIS”… e assim em diante. Enviamos SMS, email e tudo. A mulher do Babo, Marina, ... read more

Chapter 3 Leave the Pope for another day The plan had been to get up early and go to the Vatican to see if the Pope was in, however they had rather underestimated the effect of the day before and did not rise until 11.15am so the Pope shall have to be patient and wait another day. (Rumour had it, that he’d been feeling a little under the weather anyhow). So what was the revised plan then? Having missed breakfast they headed for the Piazza del Popolo on the underground. The system seemed a little run down and overcrowded, much like the tube really, though unlike the tube, air-conditioning was provided. Piazza del Popolo, 4 stops on Line A (there’s only two lines, and oddly enough the other one is called Line B). Tourist site 4: ... read more
