What a great weekend. Started with Keryn turning up on Friday night. A few wines and a hair cut at the hostel. Saturday bought the beautiful Kevie back home to me. Off to Osheas with Kev, Keryn, Princess Fiona and Paddywagon driver Mark (now - I refuse to coment on him, I have promised to leave this up to Keryn... Feckin Wanker. Opps... Sorry, couldnt help but get that in) O'sheas greeted us with many Bulmers and Guiness, in typical Irish form we are sitting there at closing - yes, 11pm closing. So off to the Arlington for a bit of a groove. Off Kev, Keryn, Fiona and I go, leaving maaark to go home to bed! Anyhoo- Great night on the dance floor, stumbling past burger king on the way home and then crawling into ... read more

I have landed in Dublin, Ireland. This country is probably mostly known for its rolling green countryside, amazing seacliffs, and general beauty of the land. Ya, well I didn't get to see any of that. Mostly because I just stayed in Dublin the entire time. And had a blast doing it. I did see the greenness from the plane though. Nice. Ended up staying with Katie's step-brother, Sean and his partner Annette. Both really cool people and very lay back. There was an Italian girl staying with them too, so it was like I was staying in a very exclusive hostel. I was a bit tenative about staying with them, seeing as I really didn't know them. But it all turned out for the best. We got along fine, and you know what? Turns out Sean ... read more

So to Dublin and the International Rules Series where of course Australia kicked ass! After the first game of the series in Galway was won by the Irish, I think we were all expecting something a little bit closer but we absolutely dominated in the second half. For those who dont know exactly what International Rules entails, its a mix between gaelic football and afl. It has a net like in soccer and posts like afl. 1 point for a behind like afl, 3 points for over the net but between the middle points and 6 points for a goal. There were about 3 brawls in the first minute which was annoying in a way but entertaining. It was a bit of a shame that it wasnt a closer match as in the second half the ... read more

Well our missing roommate showed up at some point in the night but I didn’t want to appear awake so I didn’t look at my cell phone. One thing is for certain, it was no female, lol. He came stumbling in quite drunk and muttering something. I guessed him to be young and well traveled because he blurted out “fuck” in very good English and something about “gravity works” when he dropped something on the floor. I tossed and turned quite a bit last night again, I hate sleeping in a strange bed. The alarm on my cell phone went off at 4:45am and I made sure Billie and Matt were awake. I reset my alarm for 8am and went right back to sleep. I didn’t even hear them leave so they must have been really ... read more

The alarm on my phone went off at 6:30am so I could downstairs and put coins in the meter. We parked on the street overnight so as to avoid paying the €6 parking garage fee. The meters on our street cost about €2.70 an hour so either way it’s ridiculous. It is free between the hours of 7pm and 7am and I get to park in the street right out front. I didn’t even bother with a shower since they are located about four floors below our room and we didn’t think to bring a towel. We left Billie and Matt snoozing in their bunk and told them that we’d link up around noon at the Millennium Spire. We checked out the hostel’s free breakfast in the basement and it wasn’t anything to write home about ... read more

As I write, I’m lying on the third floor of the Marlborough Hostel in downtown Dublin. I don’t see any cockroaches or mice droppings on the floor so I’m good so far. The prices are definitely not what I expected for a joint of this caliber. Tonight we are staying in a private room with two sets of bunk beds and one single twin. Billie and Matt took the bottom bunk on one set and Robert and I will flip for the bottom bunk on the other set. There is a bathroom just down the hall and only two other rooms on our floor. We had to each pay €20 a night for this room and since tomorrow is Friday, we have to each pay €25. When you add that all up, we are paying a ... read more

It was hard to leave Scotland. I’d unexpectedly fallen in love with the country and had already stayed much longer than planned. But I was excited to see a new country and wind down for a few days which is what I did in Dublin. I was fortunate to have a place to stay as my college friend, Elizabeth, had recently moved to Dublin to attend the Royal School of Surgeons. So it was nice to catch up with her as well as with sleep, laundry, emails, healthy eating, and of course the best Guinness in the World. I managed to soak in a few other Dublin experiences and some Irish history too. A highlight again was the Anglican Cathedrals, St. Paul’s and Christ Church, both dating from the 12th century, where I caught an Evensong ... read more

Damn Livia! Damn Livia! As soon as I left the net cafe I had that awful feeling that I was forgetting something...and it was right, as usual! I forgot my TRAVEL GUIDE!! But I was kinda far already, so just kept going cause right after I realized I didn't have it anymore, I read the sign "Temple Bar"! I know, I know, it was only 8am...who said anything about drinking here though?! I needed breakfast first (though I was told beer counts as breakie..). :p So here I am now, sitting on a bench that's ON THE STREET!! while I have my delicious dairy-free breakie with my soy milk...how I love the 21st century! Ok, not always...ok, whatever, not now! It's 3min to 10am and I'm in Dublin wasting my time sitting on the a ... read more

Uhhuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu I just arrived in Dublin an hour and a half ago and it was so early (7am) that there was no place open for me to exchange currency cause I was stupid enough to bring pounds and only THREE EUROS...I thought I'd be able to exchange it at the station!! But apparently not... (keep that in mind if you're coming to Ireland!) Anyways...so I just walked around aimlessly (can't speel it!! :S) and this place is so cool...another one of those "no words to describe it"...and I haven't even been here for 2hrs!! I found this net cafe that was open and thought I'd ask if they exchange currency...and YES!! YAY! Having done that...I'm off to have breakfast cause I'm starving!!! and I'll meet my friend Aline sometime this morning...I'm staying with her tonight and ... read more
