Travelled to Dublin while I was in Belfast. Caught the train at 7.00 in the morning it was freezing, 3 degrees! But by the time I got to Dublin was heaps warmer 7. But it wasn't raining and the sun was actually visible so I spent the day wandering around the city trying to see as much as I could. I went to Trinity College cos I have always wanted to see hte book of Kells and lucky Me on the day I went to view it they were renovating the exhibition so I only got to see colour copies of the book. Was a bit dissapointing but never mind. Saw the Trinity college library, it was incredible the most amazing library I have seen huge arched book cases lined each wal from the very top ... read more

This is, sadly, our last day here in Ireland. Yesterday we left Kilkenny very early in the morning to catch a bus back to Dublin. Kevin and Maggie departed onto another bus once we arrived, to take their plane back to the States. Amber and I were left to enjoy some late breakfast before pulling our luggage through the busy streets and sidewalks to find our hotel for the last two nights. The streets here are like what (I can only imagine) New York's are like: incredibly busy with many people dressed up rather businesslike, with herds of people crossing at every intersection. Well, there are some differences, like the fact that everyone here is very friendly, and even vehicles will stop well short of the line to let you know that you in fact have ... read more

So, I finally made it to Ireland and it was an amazing, amazing weekend. I went with Mandy, Nora, and Ashley and we stayed with Colleen Lynch (friend from high school) in her on campus apartment at University College Dublin. It was great to have a FREE place to stay for the weekend, although I’ve stayed at a hostel that was cleaner than her apartment. Sorry Colleen, but it’s true!! Anyways, we landed in Dublin and when got off the plane, it was absolutely FREEZING. I don’t think I’ve ever been in weather that cold…I thought I was literally going to freeze to death. Haha. Anyways, so we catch a bus to O’Connell Street and luckily enough, Colleen was just across the street from us. So, we met up with her and she took us to ... read more

Cheap Ryan Air tickets and Dave's birthday was a good enough excuse for us to head to Dublin for the weekend and get away from Bloody London. it was a long time coming, believe me. So this time I managed to get us to the correct airport with a hitch. Yay for Kerrie!!!! We got into Dublin in the night and walked around a bit before we managed to find our hotel. It was smack bang in the middle of Dublin City, which isnt very big, and right next to Temple Bar. An area that is just streets lined with pubs. We spent our first night in as it was midnight by the time we got to the hotel. The next day we did the usual sights, Trinity College, St Patricks Cathedral and the good ol' ... read more

I've come to Dublin to go to a rugby match tomorrow between Australia and Ireland. I've arrived quite late, but I'm going to head out with the group (I've come on a 'package' deal with a group called The Fanatics) and have a drink or 2. 19th November: We've just come back from the rugby game - which was appallingI Australia lost by a huge number of points (or whatever they're called), so I think I will be using my Irish heritage and celebrating with the Irish tonight!! But it was great being there. I was in the very top row which had a great view. There are about 200 people here with the same group. They're not the friendliest bunch (I think the majority of them have been to the other games together and have ... read more

Okay people, I haven’t done one of these in a while so I’m taking you back to the 17th of November. This was the weekend that almost sent me broke. But it was one hell of a weekend. The weekend starts with me moving back to the Piccadilly back packers in Piccadilly Circus. This is where I met 4 Swedish guys. Hey don’t ask me there names, I could barely remember mine at the end of the night. And after a quick feed at the local way over priced Indian restaurant, we walked into the Soho red light district. Why I hear you ask? Why not, because they tell me that in Sweden you don’t have areas like these. Hey who am I to argue. Never been there myself. After an hour or so the guys ... read more

Hello everybody, Sorry about the delay. We are all here safe in Dublin, after a long and tiresome plane trip. This is our second full day here in Ireland, and yesterday we had a blast. We're all still really tired, but wake up early nonetheless, as there is so much to do. Our short time here is not nearly long enough, and there are many sites to explore, both here in the capitol and in the entire republic as well. Yesterday we learned all about the Viking takeover of Dublin that made the city into what it is now. We visited Christ Church Cathedral, which was built about 1000 years ago. Amber and I have each taken over 300 pictures already, but unfortunately I don't have the proper equipment on my person to upload them at ... read more

We have returned from Ireland and might I say....had an absolute ball. Apart from both suffering from severe head colds, we managed to drag ourselves out of our warm hotel every now and then for a quick peak at Dublin. Well, you've probably heard, Irelands got nothing on Scotland as far as beauty, but if you ask me, the Irish food, is the best we've had since we left home, and Dublin would have to be the only city we've come across in Europe to even slightly remind us of home. And, just incase you were wondering, the rumour is absolutely true.......you cannot walk from one side of dublin to the other without passing a pub! The people are the friendliest and consider 'drinking' a national sport (there's even beer in the good ole Irish stew....mmm ... read more
