So i turned in my first papers today! oh man it was intense- we even got little receipts with a stamp so that we were sure to have record of turning it in. We had to submit it to the department rather than the teacher that was just strange and very impersonal especially in contrast with what i am used to. but ya so turned them in and then went to get fish and chips with kasey. After that headed to the crawford library to work on my paper due monday. arent you proud mom :D haha i actually got a lot more work done than i thought i would, so tonight i gave myself permission to take a break. so i am now watching movies and having a fabulous night off. oh did you know ... read more

Hello all! It's been a while... again. I'm a bit miserable at keeping this blog up, aren't I? Just so everyone knows, if you send a message through the travel blog, I won't be able to reply to it. Email is better if you actually want an answer. So, let's see. I got back from Orlando on Monday night, arriving in Cork around 7:30pm. This was after a loooooong layover in Heathrow. It was quite a chunk of traveling. I spent a large portion of my layover asleep on a bench, then read Fudoki, by Kij Johnson (a signed copy I picked up at the conference for $5) and finished it, and also played a lot of ukulele. UKULELE! I got a cherry red sparkly ukulele for my birthday, and got it signed by Charles Vess ... read more

Went to church this morning we learned all about being the outsider and how god will speak to us and accept us if we let him. they even sang an irish song, it was quite amazing!! I love grace church! It has so much life- that might be because of the incredible amount of children but walking in the door, I just feel an overwhelming sense of joy. I can never wait until the next sunday! So today I finished my first draft of the first paper. I didnt even think they would format things differently here before coming here, but oh boy now i need to figure out how to do chicago style formatting vs mla- should be interesting. I'm going to start working on my second one tomorrow as well as study for my ... read more

Today i woke up to the uh uh feeling. I did not want to actually get out of bed, not quite sure why, normally i think ooo yay the sooner i get out of bed, the sooner i can get back into it for my nap :D but not this morning. Surprising too, since it was a beautifully sunny day but anyway i finally got up about 20 min after my first alarm (which is also rare for me to use the snooze) and got ready for volleyball practice. once up i was excited to play again and have that sore/worked-out feeling. We got there and only a few others were there. But we played anyway. It was a bit terrifying, we played with 2 of the guy players and I kept thinking i was going ... read more

Oops... ahah i simply forgot to write the last couple days and was thinking tonight that i wrote one today but in fact hadn't- dont mind me, im just going a little crazy (not like i wasnt crazy before) :D im starting to deal with all of my essays that are due and also studying for my irish tests that are next week. oy it is way too much for my little brain to organize especially without a printer and my normal system of piles. but i was thinking today that in a little over a weeks time, i will be on my break- free for a whole month! YAY! talk about a end goal!! so yesterday kasey and i had planned to go bowling with a few friends but of course because i was planning ... read more

Ok WOW!! St. Patrick's day in ireland is way insane!! People started drinking as soon as they woke up and soon began wandering the streets. Its kind of strange that the whole green obsession isn't really that prominent here, dont get me wrong people are definitely in green but way less so than back home. i wore my irish knee socks today so i was sure not to be pinched :) the parade was great!! there were a bunch of families, groups and even driven floats that came down the main street of town. There were people everywhere and with all the irish accents, it just seemed so traditional and unreal. Kasey took a few pics, I actually forgot my camera but I will hopefully have those pics soon and will put them up. After that ... read more

Absolutely best thing about the last two days: I got a box of homemade cookies from my roommates back home :) with cards from each of them. I read them on the way to the gym and was laughing the whole way, which i'm sure made me look like an idiot but i was happy and didnt care!!!! i love all of them so much!! (and if you guys are reading this-- THANK YOU!!!) All i had on monday, since my culture class got canceled, was my irish language review which showed me that i really, really need to study!! my test is split: oral on tuesday and written on wednesday. and in the last two days the teacher has tried to cram in what we havent yet covered, thankfully we only have one more class ... read more
