So I went to the mitchelstown caves today with my friend and her daughter. We were supposed to go to this little fishing village but it was absolutely pooring with rain this morning. I told her that ireland was going to miss me, after weeks and weeks of beautifully sunny weather the day before I leave its wretched, hehe i loved it! but so we decided to go to these caves cause they were close enough and neither of us had been there, plus it was better than going to a manor house or museum. Anyway it was fantastic! it is owned by a family that still runs it from their house. The tour guides took down a group of about 30. Now any of you that know how scared I get with enclosed, dark places ... read more

Oh wow i am so glad that i went on a mini adventure around ireland. i was a little weary about going by myself (blame put solely on my mother's head3) but i had a great time and it was way better than i thought it would be. So i went up to dublin on wednesday with nothing more than a plan in my head. But once i got up there they had plenty of space in the hostel and on the tours. So i dropped off my stuff and went on a random trip around dublin. i got a little lost but in ireland you soon find your way, or at least someone who is willing to help. I went to trinity college where the book of kells resides. Sadly they didnt have the famous ... read more

From today it is exactly a week until i return to the states. Well i will be on my way anyway, i guess to be exact i need to wait till half 2am here. yikes! i really cant believe it, it seems like only a day ive been here. i am excited to return but to leave this place and these people i have come to love will be really not grand at all. i need to stop thinking about that.i can think about that later. i worked today and gave them my cookies i made the other day. i did not want to eat all of them so they are selling them there. a few people have actually bought some and the staff had some and said they were really good like. i even got ... read more

Funny enough, i didnt actually realize i only had one week left. as of last week i had in my head that i was here for a week longer than i really was. So i had to readjust my thinking and now it is set to rights. im still planning on going to dublin on wednesday but now i just have to clean today and tomorrow rather than later like i thought. Sunday lara left. so that was my last roommate here. it was really sad but hopefully i will see her soon. the apartment almost feels dead now- it is weird. and our dryer stopped working completely so now rather than leaving them damp like before they are actually sopping and i had to ring them out before hanging them up so. oh ireland :) ... read more

No, we don't actually have Regency Steampunk Sky Pirates in Cork... more's the pity. It would have made for a mad experience. This might be my last travel blog entry for some time, I believe. I go home on Sunday! If I'm inspired, I may write on Friday or Saturday, but I have a sneaking feeling I will be too busy. So, you might be expecting some kind of summing-up entry. But I have no idea how to sum up five months in a single blog entry. Maybe I will think about it for a while after I have gotten home and then post a huge, introspective entry. I may have reason to write more travel-y things in December though... a group from Wright State is going to Honduras, and I am attending the informational meeting ... read more

So after a whole weekend of leisure time off I now am forced to return to my hermitage and study. Over the weekend I basically just knit and went to the gym and watched more random movies. It was lovely after having been studying for the whole stressful week before. Now I am preparing for the hardest exam yet, but at least it is the last. This is for that class that I would always come back and write about all the nerdy amazing things I learned. So I'm a little nervous but I think I will be alright after a week long study session. I worked at the haven yesterday and today, again it was a lot of fun. I really enjoy giving my time to a good cause. They are great people and I ... read more

So today I had my second to last test. Oh man I am so ready for them to all be done. It will be soon- I know. The test wasnt that bad, pretty much what i expected so I think I did in the A or B range. I got my essays back for all my classes and received second marks on all of them. YAY! i was quite worried with the different writing style and changed structure but I did just fine so. To treat myself I went out and got new boots and sandals since my boots are long dead and gone and I wanted to get euro-boots before I got home and the sandals i just really liked :) They are really cute, lara says the boots look steam-punk-like but i think they ... read more

Today my friend took lara and i to the wildlife park here in cork with her daughter. We have been wanting to go but just kept pushing it off but today we went. So first off its not a normal zoo, the animals actually roam around some even on the same side as the visitors. The non-harmful animals were even allowed to interact with the people. So there are some pictures of a llama right on the side sleeping and we could just go up and touch them. There were also kangaroo kind of things and we could lay down and take a nap right with them. And feed the lemurs right from your hands. It was fantastic to be that close to them and still have people and children respect them. It was beautiful to ... read more

So working in a cafe is so much fun. Kind of annoying with the tasks like dishes and sweeping but making the coffee and making the food and talking to people is a lot of fun. I'm in love with the coffee machine- with all the little buttons and steamer thing and it is red, what could be better. I made two new drinks today a chai with vanilla and a hot chocolate with banana and they are thinking about putting both on the menu. I like it and wish i would have started volunteering sooner :) I'm thinking I will try to get a job at a coffee shop or something when I get back cause it is just so amazing. Well thats pretty much all ive been doing other than studying for my exam ... read more
