I have a few photos to post from Strauss Ball, which was March 5th, and it gave me a reason to update. Also in the vein of dancing, I attended a hafla last night! For those of you who don't know what that means, a hafla is like a bellydancing party. I finally got to the UCC dance club bellydancing class on Thursday, and the teacher invited me to workshops and a hafla on Saturday. I couldn't afford the workshops, but I did go to the hafla. There were massive amounts of food (homemade guacamole, Lebanese bean salad, pomegranates, all sorts), and a very small crowd. We ended up going until half twelve or so, and I stayed to clean up because the people were all so nice. It was an evening of dancing crazy! I ... read more

So last night i was talking to kasey and she was saying how their team needed to get a middle to play in a tournament in april so that they can go. i guess i should have started by saying that over the course of my time here kasey and i have discussed vball quite a bit and it was strange because rather than dwelling on all the really shitty things that went badly all i could remember was how much i loved it. so ive been kinda toying with the idea of going with her to practice but just have always had something else planned during the same time. but when we were talking last night i was like well if you ask if i can come along i might be able to help you ... read more

sorry about yesterday, i was feeling to lazy to write. yesterday i finished my requested scarf and started on a bunny. I had this idea: one of my friends has a daughter and so i am going to make the daughter a bunny and give the mom a scarf for mothers day. oh ya i dont know if you know but mother's day here is 14 march rather than in may. i thought they were just getting prepared early like they do for Halloween or christmas but then i saw an actual sign with the date and then asked some of my irish friends what the deal was. They were actually shocked that ours was in may rather than in march. ahaha oh cultural differences! So i was planning on having an early night and just ... read more

Today was international woman's day!! basically up on douglas street they put on a bunch of events for women from knitting to book reading to even free dance classes. So this morning i had a tutorial for my ren class which was rather boring and i was glad when it was over :). Right after that lara and I went over to this little cafe called Bia Blast, where they were having a gathering of knitters and crocheters (most from our thursday night group). We stayed there for about 2 hours and then i had to go to tesco while lara went off to a belly dancing class. I had my culture class at 6 so i was able to make myself a breakfast burrito and then head off. I started my new scarf today. I ... read more

I am now officially 20 in both Ireland and the US! I'm posting some pictures from last night's pub crawl and Mexican dinner. An entire pub full of people sang "Happy Birthday" to me! Thank you for all the cards and well-wishes. I am hanging them up on my wall to cheer the room up. Enjoy the pictures!... read more

So today was awesome!! first off it was sunny and second off i dont know it was just great! I went to class this morning both irish and postmodern and learned a bunch of random new stuff. in irish we continued to talk about describing people. And in postmodern we finished the lecture from last time and started to talk about Gerhard Richter. The whole time during that lecture i was just like wow, i have seen this before. ahah i guess only a few of you know that my painting teacher back home is OBSESSED with gerhard richter! ahha so i have seen probably every single one of his paintings at least 3 times, as that is how many classes i have had with that teacher! it was interesting though to see it from the ... read more

So today I went to Kilcrea with this lady that I met at church on sunday and a few people from california. I was thinking they were going to be an older couple or something, nope. actually they were just a year younger than i and actually know a few people at poly (dominca, heather and kelly). haha it was so strange to meet them here, so far from home! it was great but made me a little homesick. Not terribly so but just a little bit of missage on my part for things and people back home. I realized that after this month i will pretty much just be traveling and being able to hang out without the pressure of school, at least until exams. and then i am home. so before i know it, ... read more

I am having such a grand time and can't wait to have more of it!! Today was pretty great! It wasnt a beautifully sunny day but it was still warm enough. it was kinda misty and magical in the morning, it was almost out of a movie!! I took scarf #1 out today trying to find its owner but didnt have luck. Well actually i saw a homeless guy in the park and had this feeling i should give it to him but he looked really closed off and in a corner and i got scared. I think im going to walk back that way on thursday and try ... read more
