Kefalonia was a beautiful island offering a good and varied week for us. Would definately recommend hiring a car and driving the circular route, stopping at beach resorts, quaint villages, and the traditional tourist attractions. Avoid driving in the rain though ... the roads get very slippery and after the car span ... we were very lucky to not have dropped down the cliff face and ended up ... well lets just say ... was a tad scary. I was jarred awake this morning at an ungodly hour by the sounds of someone in my room yelling at me to wake up. "30 minutes until docking" he was yelling. The nerve of this guy to enter my cabin unannounced to wake me up. I was still able to hear him as he went down the hall yelling at all the other passengers to wake up. Not wanting to be left behind, I quickly ran in the shower and gathered my things. We docked in the port town of Igoumentisa. From here, we were to catch another ferry that would take us to Corfu town. It was still dark outside and everyone was still half asleep as we were disembarking. I arrived in Corfu Greece (it's an island to the northeast of the mainland of Greece) 4 days ago and spent 3 full days here. It is again another great spot. The water is crystal blue and the beaches are great. Yesterday we went on a boat ride around the island (it's huge) and hung out on a few beaches around the island. It was just my tour group on a private boat so it was really cool (but crowded, there were 25 of us on medium sized boat) I went to this beach today with one of the ladies on my trip, her name's Suzanne (she's from NY and we've decided that she and i will definitely have to go travelling together again). Went cruising around the fu today in the car we hired! Emily, Ange, Nat L-Z, Julia and I hired an orange Kia, which was brand new - it'd only done 28 kms. Left at about 10 and had to go get petrol, then headed off to the beach. I drove first, and it's definitely an interesting experience driving on the right hand side of the road, getting used to everything being opposite. I kept using my wong mirror instead of the rear view mirror, not that it mattered that much. Changing gears was the least of my worries, and easily adapted to. Chapter 33 Bed rest and a long walk to the monastery After fetching Maya’s breakfast, Martin headed back out on his own, wishing Maya could also see the places but wanting to capture as much as possible to relay back to her upon his return. He was off on his own adventure today, though he didn’t really want to go to far so Maya would not be left alone for too long. He left the old town from the south and headed towards the airport where he wanted to find the bay they had been unable to reach a few days before.
